Let's learn and teach, expand the scope of knowledge

My first time, participating in this contest and I’m a security operative and a cctv operator. My write up will be centered around security and I’ll be sharing some pointers on few cautionary guidance, alongside items that are needed to safeguard against potential threats.

The most crucial purpose of security is to safeguard life and property and its a collective responsibility of everyone. In our country, offices, homes, we try to put measures in place to secure our territory and environment from intruders.

Security is all encompassing because it cut across information, network security, physical security, cyber security, identity and access management, cloud security and a whole lot of them.

Security is a never ending process because as a security personnel , you have to be proactive at all times. Organizations often employ a combination of technical solutions, policies, and education to maintain a robust security posture.

There are certain things will look out for whenever we resume work each day for smooth running of security operations in our firm and they include;

• identifying the assets. The ones that are of value to the company or organization. They may include cars, generators, heavy duty equipment etc.
• Also carry out a risk assessment to know which can be easily damaged or the asset that might pose as danger if anything happens to it.
• We try to set policies in order to safeguard those assets. By ordering the organization to keep them in a more safer location or were the security personnel can keep a look on them.
• Assess control. Who gets in and out of the company premises and also taking proper records of property that leaves and enters the organization.
• Handing over of items: you do a proper handover of items to those who replace you either in the morning or night.
• Taking records of events that happened throughout the day inside your routine diary (security books meant for security purpose alone).

• Always be proactive by been two steps ahead of any potential criminal.

• Never expose yourself to danger or armed men incase of robbery attacks

• Always have emergencies number to call in case of fire emergencies, robbery, ambulance service.

• Always lock every entry and exit doors after the days work.

• Go for routine patrol around the premises to know what’s happening.

• Always be at alert and never work on assumptions.

• Always hand over everything to God in prayers because he is the ultimate protector.

• Make sure your perimeter lights are on at night and electric fence energizer is switched on as well, to sound alarm in case anyone is trying to break through the fence.

• The cctv are properly installed are the right places that covers the length and breath of the building.

Items	Purpose
	is a walkie-talkie device shared among security operatives to communicate with each other in our various bits or locations.
	electric fence energizer: is the machine that powers the electrical fence and if the barb wire is been tampered with, the alarm system in the device is triggered on.
	intercom phone: we use it to communicate with staffs in the main office or building in case they are expecting any visitors.
	“cctv camera:* is a close circuit television camera used to view the premises or surrounding areas.
	HIK VISION : is a small camera outside and also serves as a door bell. We used it to communicate with anyone standing outside the gate.

In conclusion, security is something we should all take serious in anywhere we find ourselves and should be a collective responsibility to safeguard our environment. Remember, never be confrontational with anyone with arms.
