Week#4 my garden & crops

Greetings to everyone from my end. Hope things are going smoothly. I remain @mbetobongluke your commercial farmer. I'm super excited to participate in this contest organized in @natu-agriculture.
Let me share with you guys my agricultural product.

Agriculture is the only way that can strengthen the economy of any nation. In the early 80s and 90s here in my country we were swimming in crude oil. But when the crude started drying, agriculture was more or less a difficult task to us. We started depending on importation of agricultural goods and these didn't go well in our economy.

I was born into the family that earn through agriculture. This passion override and motivated me to study animal science under the faculty of agriculture in the university.

My passion and love for agriculture is uncompromised. I have been involved in a lot of crop production. Here I have cultivate different kinds of crop. Some of which I will like to highlight in this amazing community are.
Cassava cultivation, plantain plantation, maize, cocoa, melon, palm trees, cocoyam and lot more.
All this crops are essential commodities. As human, we can't do without agriculture and I see no regret in doing this.
Aside from bringing food to my table, I just love this field called agriculture.

Tell about what crops or gardens you have grown or visited.

Fantastic question. The kinds of crops I grow and am still cultivating annually are mainly cocoa plantation, cassava, plantain plantation etc. in cocoa plantation, there are a lot of benefit starting from the cocoa seed that is being converted into bourvita which when converted, we use it to drink tea. And also cassava in my community and indeed my country is essential commodity. The was a time a custard of garri was sold for 3,500 which is approximately 12steem. So indeed, we need to embrace agriculture.

What measures are taken for the diagnosis and prevention of various diseases?

This is one of the challenges farmers are facing when embarking on cultivation of different agricultural product.
The measure I usually take in preventing the spread of disease/diseases are;
At first, I will treat the soil by stabilizing it.
Secondly, I usually use dung any type of dungs whether (poultry, pig, goat any kind of dung) before I use it, I make sure I mix the dung with furodan to kill the worm in the dung or any kind of diseases.
and also before planting my seed, I soak it in detoxify agent/chemical.
These help prevent diseases and other harmful pests from penetrating my farm land.

Do you think your garden and crop can contribute to the economy?

Absolutely yes. The essence of planting was not just for subsistence purposes but also for commercial purposes.
My plantain plantation has cover over two 2 hectares of land. You can imagine the outcome of it when it yield. But nevertheless, the demand is more than supply. I know good is not enough when better is possible. I will keep doing more to improve and sustain the economy of my state and indeed my country.
