The Package: Part 3 - Full Circle

As Darnella looked into her mom's face trying to understand what she was saying, her phone rang. It was Jarred, and she'd been waiting to her from him. She assured her mom she wasn't going far before stepping away to take his call.

She was too happy to hear Jarred's voice to scold him for not calling sooner. She listened as he told her the most bizarre story of running over a young lady on the highway, named Justine. Finished with her call to Jarred, Darnella called her brother, Stefano, and updated him on the new developments.

Returning to the room, Darnella looked deep into her mom's eyes. Margaritte looked back into hers as though looking at herself. Beautiful, with long black hair and sultry eyes. She was glad that her daughter had that wonderful sailor in her life. Jarred would make a good husband, she thought, just like my Howard.

Darnella interrupted her mom's thoughts as she explained to her she needed to take a trip and that Stefano would arrive shortly. Margaritte nodded in agreement as best she could. She had wanted desperately to tell her children once they were grown. But she never did, and now, she may never get the chance.

Darnella's leaving left a sadness that overtook Margaritte. She lay there thinking about her former life that brought her to this moment.

Now known as Margaritte Lancester, the next two years after the ordeal found her moving from place to place, but still in Europe. She secured odd jobs wherever she could and lived in boarding houses, careful not to enter into any lease or rental agreement.

Saving enough money to relocate to the U.S., Margariette now found herself in unfamiliar territory. Barely able to speak English, she tried to remain as inconspicuous as possible. But she possessed a natural, glowing facial feature that made it difficult for her to remain in the shadows.

Once married, Margarette poured out her story to her new husband. Howard Dennison vowed to protect her. But the security she felt was shortlived as she watched her dutiful husband fall sick and pass away, shatterig her cocoon she'd wrapped hersel and her children in. Now, she was left feeling vulnerable and suspicious of everyone. She kept her distance, raising her children alone nestled in the small community with a cul-de-sac on Eastwood St.

Margaritte scoured the newspapers daily hoping not to see names or signs of activity, or the renewed existence of the deceptive international transportation organization. She grew weary. But as time does with anything over a long period, it lulled her into a false sense of security as the days turned to nights, weeks passed into months, and years ran together with nothing but a barking dog in the distance to break the sound of the gentle breeze as she lounged in the swing on her porch.

Little did Margaritte realize that it was only the calm before the storm as she was only one State away from the very threat she thought she'd left behind.
