The world lost a star today. There are few words to say, as the world grieves.

While there are always losses, some much more personal than others, when we lose someone who brought greatness to a sport, the arts and other highly visible media, sometimes the impact is a true gut punch. Perhaps we wonder why we didn't take more time to appreciate them. Or we remember them in some deeply personal way. Those who had Lakers season tickets during those years when Kobe graced the court with his strength and skill will no doubt feel it deeply. And who knows what his family is experiencing now. May they find peace.

Kobe, you lit up the court. You inspired a generation of kids to get out, be active, do drills, layups, spins and dunks. I dedicate this #BeautifulSunday post to your memory.

So awful... His wife losing a husband and daughter. his whole family...my heart grieves for them.

Same, honey. I’m feeling just terrible for them. It sounds like his daughter was a rising star in basketball too. It’s tragic from every angle.

I was a fan and he seemed a very good person, too. Nice to watch him talk in front of the camera.

All hail the Black Mamba!

Yes he seemed like a good person, and not one of those famous people who is destroyed by fame. His life will be celebrated. Good to hear from you, @manoldonchev.

What a great man. But it was a special helicopter. You gotta understand what that means.

Can you provide a little more information bout what you mean, @joeyarnoldvn?

Kobe didn't have a cheap helicopter. Kobe had a military grade helicopter with autopilot software which means it is tougher or possibly almost impossible to accidentally crash it. Not impossible but very hard to because the software can correct manual pilot errors, normally. This means it is more probable that the helicopter was remotely hacked.

Oh no. How terrible! Do you think there will be an investigation?

They say they are investigating.
