Oh, The Same Lack Of Imagination!

in ART LOVERS5 years ago

In the years when I went to work Sunday was a day I loved and hated. I loved it in the morning when I knew I was free of worries and I was hoping for a beautiful party and I hated it in the evening, when I knew that the next day was going to be a new week full of stress.

Now, since I am retired, I often don't even know when it is Sunday (this proves that I don't go to church much).

This is why I try to make Sunday different from the other days of the week, to be more beautiful. This means that Sunday is chosen to watch a movie, to go to the theater and to the opera, to a restaurant or to a walk in the park.

Lately I just go out for walks. I have a problem with imagination but not only that, walking is the easiest and cheapest.

This Sunday's walk

The first Sunday of 2020 and probably the last one with the look of autumn before the winter that we expect. The lack of imagination means that the walk is still in the same park, as every time. Even if it is the most beautiful park in Bucharest, Herastrau Park!

This time the walk starts from a side of the park that is less used, near a fountain called Miorita. There is a museum, the Mina Minovici Museum, in a very beautiful house.

We are in the Baneasa neighborhood, a neighborhood in the north of Bucharest. It'fs the greenest and most expensive area of the city. We got to the park.

The lake in the middle of the park, the main attraction of the park, was partially cleared as a preparation for winter. The lack of water allowed the ugly side of things to be seen, a lot of dirt on the bottom of the lake.

Although it is warm outside, however, at night some of the lake began to freeze. Unpleasant enough for the birds that live here and find food in the lake water.

The unusually warm sun brings people out for a walk. Long shadows remain behind the trees and behind us. We are enjoying the view!

This is how the first half of the park ends. We go, as usual, to eat a cake at our favorite confectionery, Maria. Until we arrive we must see a small part of the Baneasa district. At a window, Santa Claus looks at a flowering tree in wonder ... at the beginning of January ?! Now there should have been frost and snow.

In the neighborhood everyone loves nature and trees. If they have nowhere to instill them then they keep them on top of blocks.

IMG_20200104_134715.jpg

Nearby begins the newest neighborhood in Bucharest, Pipera neighborhood. Like Wall Street of Bucharest, the headquarters of the largest banks and corporations are concentrated here. Generally multinational companies. The tallest buildings in Romania were built here. Bucharest is built in a very active seismic zone. Earthquakes over 7 Richter occur about twice a century. Because of this, no buildings higher than 15 floors have been built so far. The new construction technologies currently allow for tall buildings up to 40 floors. Like the ones you see here.

The last major earthquake was 43 years ago. Then I was living on the fifth floor and it was scary, fortunately the block did not collapse. Now we look forward to the next earthquake that can happen anytime. (the cycle between two major earthquakes is 40-50 years). Passing on our walk this beautiful Sunday, I was disappointed. The confectionery was closed. I didn't want to give up and I went into a very small restaurant that only serves soups.

After eating and a little rest, the walk to the house makes us cross the Herastrau park again. Now entering the other side, we do not return on the same route.

Basically, we go around the lake. The same alleys, people walking, playing sports or photographing the birds.

You can see the exit from the park, at the Arc de Triomphe. Central to the city, known for the fact that the National Day military parade under it.

Waiting for the bus that will take us home we look at the Arc de Triomphe and the cars that enter this roundabout. Pretty nice ride!

It was a beautiful Sunday and for me all are sublime ... because they are still! Thanks to @ace108 and @c0ff33a for creating #beautifulsunday and @sublimesunday and so inspire us every Sunday...I consider it a photography challenge as well as an invitation to travel! Also on Twitter #POSH

I once initiated a challenge called SAM. Something About Me. I thought it was good for our readers to know more about us and to understand better what we are posting. Well, SAM is dead but I still think it would be in everyone's interest to get to know each other better. This is the reason for the short presentation below!

@bluemoon

  • I am Dan and I live in Bucharest, Romania.
Born in 1954, married and retired. I worked in construction and banking system.
My passions: Art (film, music, photography, painting), Travel and even Cooking.

  • Romania is the sixth largest country in the European Union. Unfortunately, due to over fifty years of communism (1947-1989) and a reluctant transition to capitalism (1990 and up to now), Romania is among the least economically and socially developed countries. I hope this will settle quickly in the near future.
Instead, it is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe!

Beautiful park for a walk. Sometimes, it's not about imagination. Sometimes, it's about doing what we enjoy, the familiarity of the environment... Sometimes, it is the simple things in life that we enjoy. 😊 !trdo

Romania is a very beautiful part of the world by the photos you shared. I have never really seen many photos of Romania except the Arc de Triumph so I appreciate you sharing your beautiful photography and walk in the park! Glad you got out to enjoy those last fall like days! How cold does it usually get this time of year?
I also think we should get to know each other better - really liked your added story of Romania and your photos in a small journey through life!
I live in the Boreal forest of Saskatchewan Canada close to the Prince Albert National Park. Our snow came with a big dump in October which bought winter on all of a sudden. Surprisingly the end of December and now January has been relatively mild.
I must join in for the #beautifulsunday and #sublinesunday. In fact I took some beautiful photos of the sunrise on our walk this morning that I can share. Off to do that now! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you very much! Like any small country and far from us, it is difficult to know much about it. This is why I try through these simple blogs to show as much about where I live. We all have different lifestyles and showing them can help with ideas for everyone.
I am convinced that the nature of Canada and the place where you live is fabulous. I'm glad you want to post, Sunday, about how you spend this day.

Thank you very much, @steemitworldmap and @lizanomadsoul! Always a pleasure and honor when I am noticed by you.

From the photos you have shown, Romania is beautiful. Your park is lovely and peaceful. Retirement is a great reward for years of service-days just fly by.😊

Thanks!
You know, we are all looking for beauty and that's why we post what's most beautiful. Obviously there are many things less pleasant. I try to ignore them as much as I can because I want to be as objective as possible.
