This is how I see it. We all have a life to live and our own road to take with or without dreams and wishes.

What is the first fish we one as a parent? A healthy child. Healthy as in body and mind.

Next, we want our child to be happy. Both wishes are selfish because an unhealthy unhappy child is a heavy task for a parent it limits us.

Are you selfish if you do what you feel is best for you? We all should be if not there's a heavier load on our shoulders.

A one hour travel is not too far. With children we have different responsibilities and needs. I am afraid it is impossible to please everyone.

As a parent I learned that if I am unhappy it influences my children as well. For sure many called me selfish but as many also say that I invest way more time in my children than the average parent will ever do.

The only thing that counts is how you feel about you. If it comes to it you are your only best friend. The one you are born with and will pass away with so it's wise to accept and be satisfied with the person you are.
