I too am well and healthy by the grace of Allah. @colombiaoriginal appeared among us with a beautiful competition. What do you think about the death penalty, do you agree or disagree?

Many people believe that the death penalty is necessary to keep the security system efficient in society. While the death penalty has some negative aspects, I agree with the view that without it we would be more vulnerable to violence. The death penalty can be considered an inappropriate punishment for several reasons. The most compelling argument is that we have no right to kill other human beings. The right to life is the fundamental right of any human being and no one can violate this right, no matter what he does. Moreover, the innocent may be unjustly executed. Such wrongful convictions take the lives of innocent people and make other citizens lose faith in law and justice. And apart from that, sometimes criminals regret their action. In these cases they should be given a second chance to improve themselves.

However, I believe the death penalty is necessary in society. First, it is an effective deterrent for major crimes. The best way to deter a person from committing a crime is to show the consequences of their actions. Secondly, the government spends a large amount of the national budget on the maintenance of prisoners. Rather this money can be used for the development of the society and welfare of people.

Is this type of penalty part of the law in your country? Do you think it should be implemented?

According to a report by Amnesty International, 142 countries in the world do not have the death penalty, regardless of the seriousness of the crime, they will not execute anyone. 56 countries have capital punishment in their laws. Of these 56, 23 countries carry out the death penalty and include China at No. 1, Iran at No. 2, Saudi Arabia at No. 3. Bangladesh is one of 56 countries that retain the death penalty, but execution rates are not high. . There are a total of 17 laws in our country that provide for the death penalty and a total of 60 offenses punishable by death.

There are 6 crimes in Bangladesh, the only penalty of which is death penalty.

  • Suspension or annulment of the constitution.
  • Murder by an accused sentenced to life imprisonment.
  • Attempt to murder by accused sentenced to life imprisonment.
  • Murder of wife for dowry.
  • The Mutiny in Air Force Act.
  • Rebellion (The Navy Act). The judge will say whether the crime is punishable by death or life imprisonment.

As many as 230 people were sentenced to death in Bangladesh in 2018, according to Amnesty. In that year, the number of convicts sentenced to death in the country was more than 1500, including convicts convicted in previous cases. Bangladesh is one of the countries in Asia and the Pacific region where the death penalty is the highest punishment. Public distrust of the judiciary has made them vindictive. People want quick redress through maximum punishment." Several mass movements in Bangladesh have shown massive support for death penalty. You have eradicated criminals with death penalty but have not taken any steps to eradicate crime. Social system you all are caught as a criminal and sentenced to death, but still a crime. Our judicial system and The state apparatus has failed to introduce any punishment other than imprisonment or death penalty to the common people. The mindset of government and administration is that the more criminals we can punish by jailing or death sentence, the more crimes we can punish. The higher the success rate in control.

Do you know of any particular case of death penalty in your country or any other country?

The court has ordered the hanging of 7 accused including the son in the case of killing a mother in five pieces in Subarnachar Upazila of Noakhali, Bangladesh. District Judge Court PP Gulzar Ahmed Jewel said that on the afternoon of October 7, 2020, the police recovered two pieces including the head of housewife Noor Jahan (58) from a paddy field of Jahazamara village of Subarnachar upazila. Three more bodies were recovered from the same field the next day.

Humayun Kabir, the son of the woman killed in the incident, filed a murder case against the unknown accused in the police station as the plaintiff. At one stage of the investigation, Dr. as a suspect. Nirav and Kasai Nur Islam were arrested. In their interrogation, information comes out that the plaintiff in the case of murder is himself involved. After that, the police filed another case with Humayun as the main accused. In the case, 5 accused including his son Humayun Kabir gave a confessional statement in court. In their confessions, they gave chilling details of the murder. After taking the testimony of 27 people, the judge announced this verdict.

According to the details of the case, as per the plan, the woman was first killed with a pillow on the night of 6 October. Later, the body was cut into five pieces and left in the paddy field of the neighboring creditors. The police have recovered the sharp meat cleaver used in the murder, a bowl, a spade and the woman's saree.

Conclution

Even if convicted, the death penalty remains a cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment. Furthermore, there is good reason to argue that the death penalty violates not only the right to be free from torture, but even the right to life. Universal human rights based on right to life and dignity. And the state should not have the power to deny all human rights as mere punishment to take away this inherent value of human life through the imposition of the death penalty.

Thank you brother.

Hello dear friend, I am glad that in your country this law is included, certainly the right to life is something that should not be discussed, but it is necessary to apply rigid laws in these cases, that is my opinion. With respect to this issue there are many differences in thinking and it is valid, but I believe that people should pay for their crimes.

I recommend you not to place so long paragraphs, a maximum of 6-7 lines is fine, so we do not saturate the reader.

Thanks for your input, you are always welcome. Don't forget to support other users with your vote and comment. Greetings!

Hola amigo

En lo personal me conecté con esta frase.

"La pena de muerte puede considerarse un castigo inapropiado por varias razones."

Creo que revela la limitaciones que como humanos tenemos para administrar justicia.
