Writing & Reviews Contest: 3 Positive Things 2020 Taught Me

2020 was a year to remember for all of its goodies and the many of its bad, but you know what they say there is a lesson to be learnt in every story and i guess 2020 was no exception. The year started great for me and ended great for me but along the lines, the stories in the middle of the pages thought me so much that i believe will stick with me for a very long time, what are these things i am talking about?

A. Be Humble, Life is Precious and Priceless yet Fleeting

I do not remember the exact day but i believe it was somewhere in September 2020 when i saw on BBC what was happening in Ecuador. Yes the whole globe was in a frenzy, the panic was overwhelming especially in the eastern world and i have been reading and following how dead counts were just going up like a profitable traders equity by the minute however i had never truly seen this with my eyes and was shocked when i saw on the news dead bodies lying all around across the streets, Nurses and Doctors actually wailing for aid which was not going to come from anywhere, people left their dead bodies in the street as the traveled to the hospital out of trepidation. In that instance, i asked how i would have reacted if i was in Ecuador at that time, i asked myself if would be alive and i felt so much grateful for life. What i saw humbled me so much and it was then that i realized how fleeting life can be and how precious it is to have life knowing that as you live to see another day you can keep trying over and over again. I have always respected idiosyncrasies however i believe that respect will be moved to another higher gear in 2021 and probably for the rest of my life and the sacrifices people put out to help others will be something i will always appreciate forever.

B. Everyone has their worth, Do not look down on anyone or any profession for that matter

In 2020 one of the most respected works that came to be in the light was something no one would have ever opted to do, i know many who would still turn it down for the hefty of prices and yet this work was the reason why many were saved, it saved surgeons and nurses alike, it saved patients and it saved the greater majority of hospital staff and i am taking about the janitorial work. Whiles many may not have realized the danger they put themselves in and how much of a frontline worker they were i did, because i followed the health protocols keenly all around and read as much as i can during the frenzy. This made me realize how important everyone's part may be in life, you do not need to see amazing feat achieved before you give someone the respect due them, and under absolutely no circumstance should you vote against any profession just because you do not like it. Our cleaners saved lives in 2020 and for that we must learn that everyone has their worth.

C. Time is an Illusion, Change is inevitable

I remember how suffocated we all felt when we had to stay in our homes for months, i very well remember reading even on the blockchain how difficult life is staying indoors, weddings became the order of the day from where i come from because many needed companions in their homes, it was almost as if the world will never be the same again, as it this will never pass, as if we will be in our homes for the rest of our lives but here we are today embracing the new world, adapting to change and moving forward as a specie. Sometimes we just need to wait things our or wait for when the right time is due. Life is not a race for no matter how fast you try to move you can never overtake time. And so when things do not seem to go as planned, when it feels like the end is nigh for you and that you have reached the end of the road, just wait it out for time is an illusion and the change that comes with it inevitable.
