Today I went to see the power plant up close, believe me it is huge. I didn't get the best picture, but I hope you can see how big this building really is.

It is also a National park, so I will tell you more about it.

National Park Djerdap:

Djerdap National Park is located in the southwestern part of Europe, in the northeastern part of the Republic of Serbia, on the international border with Romania.

The total area of the National Park is 93,968 hectares, and the protection zone covers 63,608 hectares. The main natural phenomenon of this area is the magical Djerdap gorge through which the river Danube flows.

The park stretches on about 100 km of the right bank of the Danube from Golubac to Karatash near Kladovo and includes a narrow wooded mountain belt, 3-9 - {km} wide - along the Danube, which rises above the Danube from 50-900 meters above sea level. This area - the area of the Đerdap gorge was declared a national park in 1975.

Specific geometric development, very favorable Djerdap climate, complex structure of gorges, canyons and deep bays, make this area stand out as a unique European mensural tertiary flora, vegetation and rocks.

The flora of Djerdap is characterized not only by diversity and richness, but also by a distinct chain character. Over 1100 plant species survive in the park. The diversity of habitats and communities is also reflected in the fauna, which, like flora, bears the mark of relictness. Bear, lynx, wolf, jackal, woodpecker, barn owl, black stork and many other species can be found in this area.

Very favorable living conditions were the reason for the constant presence of man, as evidenced by many archaeological finds and cultural and historical monuments, such as Lepenski vir, archaeological sites such as Djoke, Golubac town, the remains of Trajan's Bridge, Trajan's tablet, Roman limes, various castles , to preserved examples of Serbian folk architecture.

The main feature of the park is the great forest cover (over 64%) and the exceptional richness and diversity of flora, fauna of geomorphological forms and the richness of cultural and historical monuments from the oldest epochs to the present day. About 9% or 5500 ha of the Djerdap National Park is part of the Danube, which belongs to Serbia. Djerdap National Park also makes it a river national park. The Danube Valley consists of three canyon-gorge valleys:

Golubac Fortress from the Danube
Golubachka, 14.5 km long, at least 230 m wide
Mr. Vir is 15 km long and at least 220 m wide

The canyon of Veliki and Mali Kazan is 19 km long and at least 150 m wide
and three valleys:

Ljupkovska
Donjomilanovačka
Orshavska
The canyon valleys are cut into the limestones of the southern Carpathians.

Djerdap, the Iron Gate, has been a challenge for travelers, traders, warriors and peacekeepers for thousands of years. It is the gateway between two important cultural and economic parts of the world, between the lower and middle Danube region. Djerdap has always been a natural strategic place of great importance, both in war and in peace. That is why there are a large number of historical monuments along Djerdap.

Hi Mihajlo! Beautiful images.

I have never been to Djerdap but I visited Belgrade and Smederevo in 2011. It was my first trip abroad. It was great.
