Hunters Series Review

This series is a hidden gem, at least it was for me and it is so hidden that i discovered it a couple of weeks ago. As you know i am always watching series, movies, and anime but i haven't seen a teaser about this show or anything. You wouldn't imagine it if i asked you to, but i just saw a picture of the series in 9gag and after that, i searched for more, and that's how i discovered Hunters.

Generic Info

This is an Amazon Prime show that came out on 21 February of 2020. It has 10 episodes that are one hour each, except of the first one which is 1 hour and a half. The creator of the show is David Weil and it's considered a crime drama with mystery elements.

Another thing that you need to know before we continue with the plot, is that one of the main characters and stars of the show is Al Pacino. That for me means that the show would be at least decent, only because he plays on it. The other main actor is Logan Lerman who you may know from Fury (2014). Note that there will a second season as well!

Plot

The whole story takes place in 1977, in New York City, where the young jew, Jonah Heidelbaum lives with his grandma. He is a very smart guy but due to bad economics, he sells weed in order to provide for himself and his grandmother. Soon in enough and by soon i mean in the first episode after a talk with his grandma he goes to sleep. The same night, someone breaks into the house and kills his grandma.

He can't recognize the guy because he wears a mask but still he doesn't do anything and simply watch his grandmother die. The police isn't that helpful either and he tries to take the situation for himself but he fails before he even begins and ends back in the police station.

There, a friend of his grandma called Meyer Offerman who is Al Pacino takes Jonah under his wings and explains to him the whole situation. He says that he is a friend of his grandma that was together with her in a concentration camp. He isn't just that though...

Meyer Offerman is the leader of a secret team of different people that seek revenge from the Nazis, each for their own goal and motive. They know that many of those Nazis have survived and are now living among them throughout USA, so they are trying to track them down and kill them.

Jonah joins the team and all together are trying to track and kill those badboys, but here is a twist. There is a new "breed" of Nazis that are trying to create the Fourth Reich so everything is starting to get more complicated for everyone.

How the Nazis are trying to rule?

How will the squad of vigilantes fight back?

What i Liked and what i Didn't

To begin with, i have a soft spot for the Amazon Prime series as the majority of them have high quality. I may disagree with some SJW choices but i can't say any bad worth regarding the visuals, the pictures and the whole atmosphere they build that way. They pay money and you can easily understand that when you are watching one of their shows.

So as you already understand i really liked the scenery, the visuals and the whole atmosphere. It had that 70s vibe all over. Also, the characters, especially the enemies were amazing, with awesome choices in cast and awesome ideas per their secret plans and such. You will get what i mean when you see the series as i try not to reveal anything, I don't like Spoilers!

Also, there is a big plot twist that is the thing i didn't like so much. It's not the plot twist itself but i think the way they present it, was quite obvious for way earlier on. If you don't understand the hints in the earlier episodes then you will be totally amazed.

Finally, i want to inform you that there is a lot of controversy from film critics about the show. Not about the acting and such but because of the whole Nazis and holocaust thing. They think some scenes should not be there because those scenes are not real, and that they exploit the actual event giving more cruelty.

It's a fucking show with many comic elements as well. Nobody can actually show the actual horrors and how troublesome it was for all the survivors and people that died there. We just can't comprehend it so we need to understand what a show is and what reality is. Those critics need to understand that! I could say more but this would stop from being a review then!
