Hello to all who love to travel,

Traveling is good for everyone. Because when we travel and see new places, we learn and experience many things. That's why I'm a traveler who loves to travel.

I was happy to see the 'Ancient world' competition initiated by the #steem-travelers community. Because I have very good information that I can convey to you. I will tell you this information without getting confused. I'm making this trip special for you and Steemit. #Steemitexclusive. Let's start our trip to the ancient city of Ephesus from the Roman period.
Historical information is taken from here. All Photos belong to me.

Travel Guide and 3D Map

Hello, I will guide you while you are visiting this place. My main profession is not guidance, but I will try to be a good researcher and narrator for you.

Ephesus Ancient City is located in İzmir/Selçuk district of Turkey. Its foundation dates back to 6000 BC. The city here has been very well preserved for centuries. However, it receives significant damage against many earthquakes and natural events. It was listed by UNESCO in 1994 and approved as a World Heritage Site in 2015.

Our Ephesus Ancient City tour will take place as I have indicated with the numbers in the photo. You will be able to better imagine the trip made with this 3D map.

1- Ancient City Entrance and Necropolises.
2- Harbor Street
3- Grand Theater
4- Trade Agora
5- Celsus Library
6- Marble Street
6a. Trajan's fountain
7- Assembly building -Senate- Odeon

A museum card is required for the Ephesus Ancient City tour. Thousands of local and foreign tourists come here every day. Since this place is in an open area, you should take a drink with you. Because when Gezi starts, there is no selling point inside. Another advice I can give you is to take an umbrella with you. Because a long and sunny journey will be waiting for us.

You can see the museum card prices in the table below. The Museum Card is valid in all museums.

1- Ancient City Entrance and Necropolises.

There are many sarcophagi on our right after entering here. Sarcophagi are rectangular structures made of marble, stone or wood, in which the corpse is placed. They were experts in making sarcophagi during the Roman period.

The sarcophagi are found in bulk and are located around the main gates of the cities. In ancient times, great importance was attached to tombs and monuments. These cemeteries are called Necropolis, which means the city of the dead.

2- Harbor Street

After passing the sarcophagi, we come across a long street. Since it was repaired by Emperor Arkadianus, the street got its name from here. It is also a long street with a width of 11 meters and a length of 350 meters. It was determined that there was a sewerage extending to the harbor under this street.

The marble columns on both sides of the street are still here. There is the Great Theater at the end of the road you see in the photo. At the end of the street is the sea. You can see the street completely on the 3D map I shared above.

3- Grand Theater

We continue on our way through Harbor Street. A great theater is in front of us. It certainly gets its name from its size. Because this theater has a capacity of 25000 people. This place has 3 floors and 65 rows. The fact that the theater is big shows us how much importance that period gave to art. Apart from the theater, gladiator fights were also exhibited.

During my visit here, I saw people working actively. The people in green vests worked diligently. You can see them in the front area of the theatre.

4- Trade Agora

It was the most important commercial and cultural center of the city in the Greek classical age. It is located next to the Celsus library. Earthquakes experienced here have caused great damage here.

In addition, since it has been a long time since these structures were built, many changes have occurred here. They examine the compatibility of marble columns with computer systems. But this job is very difficult. In the photo you can see the marble columns of different shapes.

5- Celsus Library

The name of this place, which was built in a narrow area right next to the Commercial Agora, is the library of Celsus. We can say that this is one of the most beautiful works of the Roman period. It was built by his son for his father after the death of the governor of Ephesus in 135 AD. Therefore, the library was also used as a mausoleum.

This is not a 2 storey building. It is a single-storey building with a height of 15 meters. Scientists and thinkers of the period grew up from this library.

6- Marble Street

After our library tour, there is a street that goes up. The name of this street is marble street. This street made of marble has a long slope. You also have the opportunity to see many sculptures on the side of the street.

I want to show you how tired we are going up and this slope. You should rest while visiting this place. Otherwise you will pass out from the heat. 😊

Marble Street

6a. Trajan Fountain

This place, which we encounter on the marble street, is the fountain of Trajan. It was built as 2 floors. This place has undergone great changes as it has been damaged by earthquakes. There is a statue of Emperor Trajan in the place where the water flows.

7- Assembly building -Senate- Odeon

This is the last stop of our Ephesus Ancient City tour. The Odeon looks like a small theatre. It was built in 150 AD. It consists of 3 main parts. It is covered, but this place has been demolished. It was used for music concerts or official meetings.

There are tunnels behind this structure. Many tunnels lead to the rear of this structure. You can see the exit of these tunnels in the photo below.

Ephesus Ancient City Founding Legend

It was Androklos, the son of Cordos, the king of Athens at that time. The brave and curious son of the king wanted to explore the opposite side of the Aegean Sea. When he told this thought to the Oracles, they said that they would establish a city where the fish and pig pointed.

But Androklos could not understand this. While advancing in the Aegean Sea, they light a fire both to warm up and to cook fish from the sea. After the fish is cooked, the wild boar comes out of the bushes behind it and takes the fish. Androklos comes to mind what the oracles said. They decide to establish the city here. This is how Ephesus Ancient City was founded.

I hope it was a nice trip for you. While I was telling you, I traveled again. I invite you @mercy37 , @event-horizon , @chriddi to participate in this competition. Your comments and support are important to me. See you on my next travel blog.

Stay Healthy. Goodbye.

Who asks so nicely... 😉

Well, I think your article is really, really good! An article that should serve as a good example: You can put a lot of effort for Steemit, you can research, you can make the text attractive! ... You don't have to deliver crap smeared on your smartphone in fifteen minutes.... 😎

That said, I find your travelogue very interesting, I like that you back it up with historical data. Almost like traveling with a real travel guide... 😉
I've never been to Turkey, accordingly never been to Ephesus. That has to change!

Thanks for your support and nice comment. 😊

I enjoy writing my articles and sometimes even I think I should stop now. In this way, enjoyable articles emerge.

As someone who likes to travel, I have never been abroad. It should definitely change. 👍

Thanks for this nice tour. If I had been there, I wouldn't have learned so much.

I am pleased to hear that. Thanks for your nice comment.
