Preparation

  • First step, the meat is placed in a pot, with it's brain included. Onions, pepper, salt and water is added to it and the meat allowed to boil till it's tender.
Note that the brain is seperated an tied in a nylon so that it will not dissolve.

  • While the meat is boiling, we slice the onions and pepper into round shape, cut the Utazi leaves and dissolve the edible potash with a little water to sieve. Also we pound the Calabash nutmeg in a mortar.

  • In a big dry bowl, we put in the nutmeg(Ehuru) and then add the goat brain to it. There we start to mash the brain and to mix it with the nutmeg.

Watch the video below to see how it is being stirred.

After stirring it in the bowl, we put it back in the pot and heat it up a bit after which we out it down.

Next step we take is to decorate it with the pepper and onions that has been cut in ring shapes.

And after that the dish is ready to be eaten 😋

The dish is always served with palm wine which makes it even more special.

We do not use spoons or cutleries to eat this meal, it is better enjoyed with hands, wash your hands and grab your share 😀

The steps are pretty easy to follow and it doesn't take much time. With the assistance from my aunt @ngoenyi, we were able to make this nice delicacy which we also shared with the friends.

There are many other traditional meals in Nigeria that is also very delicious like this one.
