Welcome to Hachinohe, a city of Tohoku Region found in Northeastern Japan. It has a humid continental climate, with warm summer and cold and snowy winter. There are different things to discover and experience its beautiful nature and unique culture.

Culture & Traditions / Enburi Festival

Designated as an National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, the “Hachinohe Enburi” is a local dance performance expressing prayers for a good harvest. The dance is said to take its name from a farm tool called “eburi” (or “iburi/yusaburi”), which makes flattens the ground. It is a ritual for shaking the gods of the fields to wake them up and to put the people’s spirits into the earth.

Hachinohe Station

Hachinohe station is a railway station with different lines including the Tohoku shinkansen line. This is also a standby for route buses to different destinations from around Hachinohe City, a neighboring city, and including far places like Tokyo. And some taxis are accessible in the area.

Kabushima Shrine

A shrine located on a small hill and surrounded by the sea. This is a famous home and breeding site for black-tailed gulls. During summer locals also enjoy the sea and picturesque view of the area.

Looking for the best spots for kids? A big park with amusement park rides like Ferris wheel, roller coaster, toy jet planes, etc. There is also a little zoo and horse riding. This is the best place for cherry blossoms viewing, tulips, and varieties of roses.

Hasshoku Center

A big market that sells a fresh variety of seafood straight from the port. It also has the best selection of fruits and vegetables. You can also enjoy and eat in different restaurants in the area.

Guretto Tower

This is an observation deck where you can see Hachinohe in different directions. It has also a telescope where you can see the far establishment in detail. It is near the port so you can appreciate the view of the sea. It has also a playground for kids. Hydrangea flowers are also a popular view during summer.

Ramen

Eating ramen is very popular in Japan and it is one of the comforts food to taste. It differs its taste according to region. So visiting places mean the different taste of ramen. One of my favorite ramens is from "Goumen". It's a specialty for oily broth ramen which most of us men enjoyed.

Restaurants

Japan has a different and unique variety of food. As a tourist like me eating in a Japanese restaurant will also allow me to learn more about its' culture. Culinary perfection, unique taste, and the best customer service are qualities that make me a fan of Japanese restaurants.

Public Baths

Last but not least, the public bath. Japanese bath culture in Japan is my best experience. Bathing together naked with other people makes me more confident and creates a good connection to the community. And it has great health benefits that you will enjoy.
