COLOUR OF THE WEEK CONTEST | BLACK WEEK | Lanzarote | ESP / ENG

in CCS9 months ago

Hello to all campers, friends of photography and the arts.

I am entering this contest with a small report on the Black Island, which is none other than Lanzarote, the closest island of the Canary archipelago to the African continent. Lanzarote, like the rest of the Canary Islands, is an island of volcanic origin and, with the exception of the last eruption on La Palma, the most recent and intense one took place on Lanzarote in the 19th century, which is why the colour black still predominates in its landscape, Especially in the south, where the eruptions took place, which made this part of the island a dark and rugged landscape, which was gradually tamed again with great patience and hard work by the hand of man, producing from this volcanic soil basic survival products and later an excellent white wine.

Due to the strong winds that blow over the island, each vineyard, each fig tree is surrounded by a small stone wall to protect them from the constant wind.

Here are some examples of what the island looks like from a landscape point of view.

ESP

In the north of the island, the landscape takes on lighter tones, but the hand of man has left its black mark in the form of the road.
