My Town In Five Pics | Ibiza, Balearic Islands | ESP / ENG

in Steem4Bloggerslast year

I hail from a small island in the south of the Balearic archipelago, and the island's capital shares its name with it, Ibiza. The city is also small, although it has a lot of history behind it. The upper part of the city, called Dalt Vila in the local language, which translates as 'high city', is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The inner part of the walled city is a real urban jewel with reminiscences from the Muslim period to the Renaissance in the 17th century. This walled city is surrounded by old fishermen's quarters, trading areas and official buildings.

Because the island is known worldwide for its beaches and nightlife, many people are unaware that we have one of the well-preserved gems of Mediterranean history.

As a cover image we can see an aerial view of the old city with the harbour in the background. You can clearly see the structure of the city walls dating back to the end of the 17th century.

Three instances of streets that end up being a labyrinth for foreigners.

Finally, a twilight image from the harbour with the old fishermen's quarter in the foreground.

That is beautiful series of photographs, very typical scene and loved by tourists to walk along the narrow streets, with the hope to discover little boutiques. I also love that typical cobble stone that despite of years passed look the same. Nice theme for artist to paint too :)
