Oh it's a nice economic advice to double your fortune.
Actually, we don't get our fortune that easily in my part of the world. On average, males get away with it while women have to ask for it. I repeat they have to ask for it, their own money
And the day she gets her fortune her worth declines in the eyes of her family and society.
Because we still play the classic rule here: that women who are after money must be sluts or greedy
Though, exceptions are always there.
However, Islam gives women the right in the inheritance in this ratio, but our society doesn't:

Women:men
Perhaps it is a wise idea if women cite the Islam rules more frequently. It sounds to me it's everywhere the same and it's better to remain single.
I really hope my youngest 3 will never get married it only brings misery especially if you separate. No home, no income, fights via lawyers for years and a small chance you can start a new relationship again.
Oh kitty, they make the life of a single woman hell, she faces the humiliation, taunts of family and society, it ultimately makes her want to get married to fit in the society.
I can only talk about my culture.
Staying single is hard
Getting married is hard
Getting divorce is hard
Choosing not to go in a relation again is hard.
Choose your hard, because nothing is easy
You said this very well I would go for the single-not easy. Each country been there, had their dark ages and plenty of women found a way to survive...they might have been called withes, were midwives, advisors, the first farmers, abandoned, sold, slaves, teachers, widows being locked in by crazy men envying them, girls like Jeanne d'Arc saving a nation.
As long as it is a free choice to get married or remain single whatever the weight on the shoulder is easier to carry.
