If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful; He can not deny himself." 2 Timothy 2:13

He As soon as he heard that the stone covering Jesus' tomb had been rolled away, Peter ran out to see what had happened. He had spent three days with a terrible weight on his soul for having denied Jesus.

The prophecy had been fulfilled. What unbearable anguish! Mary came saying that the Master had risen, that her body was not in the tomb and that two angels gave her the announcement. Peter had to see it with his own eyes. Upon arrival, he realized that the announcement was true.

The empty tomb was the evidence. And now? What would happen if she came face to face with Jesus? How to tell him that he was so sorry for having denied him? When the Lord appeared to Peter, the apostle was able to experience genuine forgiveness.

There was no rancor, no reproaches, not even an “I told you so”. The Lord remained faithful. His fidelity is unalterable, incomprehensible, incomparable. Many times we can feel that same burden of Peter.

We know that we have failed the Lord and that weighs us down. We even get to wonder if he will be able to forgive us once again. In those moments Jesus reminds us again how much he loves us and that he understands our struggles and weaknesses. Then he hugs us and tells us:

“I always forgive you and forget you”.

And when we ask again if it is possible, he reminds us that he cannot deny himself. He is eternally faithful and there is nothing that can change that. This is a truth that you can rely on for the rest of your life regardless of your situation. Heaven is full of "Peters" forgiven and transformed by the Holy Spirit.

They are part of a glorious Church, without spot or wrinkle, perfected to live for eternity with Christ. If old doubts want to invade your heart, appropriate the words of the apostle Peter:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy made us reborn to a living hope”. (1 Peter 1:3).

Hallelujah!
