Today I will be working on homework given by one of our professors @yousafharoonkhan.
The homework given by our professor this week is still about Centralized and Decentralized Systems, but the platforms discussed are social media.

Definition of Decentralized and Centralized Social Media Platforms
1. Centralized Social Media
Centralized Social Media is a social media platform that has a system where the entire network of social media is controlled by a specific maker or regulation. This makes Centralized Social Media a platform that has limitations in using it, we don't have complete freedom over our social media accounts.
Every content and whatever we do on our social media accounts will be known and read by the owner or developer of the social media. Even social media with a Centralized system is very vulnerable to hacking, we have often seen a lot of people's personal data hacked by irresponsible parties and there has even been news where the owner of a social media sells his user data to other parties, this makes a lot of people no longer have their own privacy.
There are many examples of social media that use the Centralized system, including:
- Snapchat
- etc
2. Decentralized Social Media
In contrast to Centralized Social Media, Decentralized Social Media does not adopt a system where the control of social media is fully controlled by the creator. If someone creates an account on a social media that uses a Decentralized system then he will have full control over his account, no one party can prohibit the user from doing anything to his account, because this is why many people call social media based on the Decentralized system is a "Social Media Freedom".
Decentralized Social Media has a very guaranteed level of security where it uses Blockchain as a place for it to run, this makes Decentralized Social Media have a very good level of security where it won't be easily hacked by hackers, even if hacked, we can easily find the culprit because every transaction in the Decentralized system will be written in a transparent manner and can be seen by anyone.
There are several examples of social media that use the Decentralized system, including:

- HiveBlog
- etc
Differences Between Centralized and Decentralized Social Media
There are several differences between these two types of social media systems, you can see them in the table below.
Which One is The Future of Social Media? Decentralized or Centralized Social Media?
If we look to the future, in my opinion, the social media that will be used by many people later is social media with a Decentralized system. As we know, the Centralized system came out long before Decentralized and this system is old school and is no longer effective to be applied at times like today.
With the development of the times, all the things around us will also develop, including the system of social media. People have started looking for ways to be able to use their social media as a place for them to earn income, especially during a pandemic like this many people cannot leave the house to earn income so that many people have jumped into content creators. In this case, we can make YouTube a great example, now there are so many people who want to become YouTubers because they can make money from the videos they upload on the platform.

By looking at the success of YouTube, we can see that many people like to get income from creating content. And we can predict that Decentralized-based social media platforms like Steemit, which have created a reward payment system for their users, will have very good prospects in the future. And with the recent boom in cryptocurrency, the percentage of Decentralized social media will become increasingly famous and will become social media that will be used by many people in this world.
Another factor that makes me believe that Decentralized Social Media will become the social media of the future is the enormous degree of freedom of expression. If we look at other platforms such as Instagram, then we will often get incidents where people's posts are taken down by the developer, this proves that we have limits on usage on Centralized Social Media so we can't fully post what we want. Meanwhile, if we use Decentralized-based social media, we will not feel this, we can freely post whatever we want with less strict rules.
How Decentralization Social Media (Steemit) Better than Twitter and Facebook?
Facebook and Twitter are social media that are very well known and almost everyone in the world uses these two social media. However, the system used by social media is very outdated, the system I mean is the Centralized system, where everything that is done by users will be directly monitored by the owner of the social media.
This causes users to have no free space to post the things they want, if there is a post that the owner/developer of the two social media thinks does not match the rules they have made, the user's post will be banned and removed from the platform without the consent of the user himself. This implies that the user himself does not have full access to the account he has.
Meanwhile, on a social media platform based on a Decentralized system such as Steemit, such a thing will never happen. Because Syteemit gives full rights to its users on their respective accounts so that its users from Steemit can do whatever they want without any restrictions from anyone.
Then the next thing that in my opinion makes Steemit so much better than Facebook and Twitter are that there is a reward system that is given to all its users. If we post something on our account on the Facebook and Twitter platforms, then all we get is Likes, Comments, and Shares, even though no matter how good the posts are made by users, they will only get these 3 things.
Meanwhile, if a Steemit user posts something on his blog, he will get a prize that will be given by the Steemit platform in the form of Cryptocurrency. The prizes given will vary depending on the quality of the content created by the user, if the quality of the content is good then he will get more prizes.
Things like this are what make me claim that the Steemit social media platform is much better than other social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
Steemit Change Millions Users Life
The presence of the Steemit platform seems to provide a new breakthrough in social media, previously we only made various posts on various social media which actually did not benefit us at all. In fact, we only wasted time, energy, and money playing social media, and the people who benefited the most from our activities is the owner/developer of the social media platform.
With the existence of Steemit, this platform provides an opportunity for anyone to be able to use their time, effort, and money in social media to get prizes for everything they have done on this platform, so the platform uses a system of mutual benefits between users and owners/developers. Steemit's platform. Unlike other social media platforms which only use their users to reap their own benefits.
Many people have been helped by the existence of steemit, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic like this which makes everyone unable to leave their home and unable to earn income, Steemit provides an opportunity where everyone can earn money even if they just sit back at home. This also happened to me, at this time I cannot roam outside the house freely, and I also cannot find work because there are many jobs that do not open job vacancies, with Steemit I can be helped both financially and also I can get a variety of additional knowledge through various communities on the Steemit platform.
Steemit also makes it easy for everyone who wants to register on this platform, all that is needed is an email and phone number and with these two things, everyone can register themselves on Steemit for free. After registering, they can immediately use their account to participate in various activities in each community on Steemit.

There are many ways that we can get money from the Steemit platform, the easiest way is to join various communities on Steemit, you can adjust your interests to the existing community. There are several communities that I recommend for you so that you can get your first reward quickly, these recommendations are based on my personal experience, so you don't need to worry, the communities I mean include:
This community is the designated community for Steemit users who have recently joined Steemit. The purpose of creating this community is to guide new users who are still confused about how to make posts and various other things related to this platform. You will be directed to post various things that will be related to what you will do in the future with this platform, such as Self Introduction, The Purpose of Steemit Keys, and many more. And you will get curation of every post that you make to this community. For those of you who are new to joining, I highly recommend joining and following all the directions given by this community.
This community was created by steemit users who have been working on this platform for a long time, including @levycore, @kemal13, and @akukamaruzzaman. KSI is made for Steemit users in the territory of Indonesia and has been around for more than 4 years. In this community, you can take part in various contests given by moderators where the types of contests will vary every week, and if you succeed in winning the contest then you will get a cryptocurrency reward Steem Dollars (SBD) which will be sent directly to your wallet and You will get additional curation from the curation account that supports this community. For Steemit users who come from Indonesia, I highly recommend joining this community.
The next community is SteemitCryptoAcademy, this community is the community I follow the most because the content of this community is learning various things related to cryptocurrency which is a field that I really like. Creating a Community On Steemit
Creating a community on the Steemit platform is very easy, but there are things you need to pay attention to first before creating a community on Steemit. Later when there will be one of the conditions where we have to spend 3 STEEM so that the community can be created, so make sure the number of STEEM in your wallet is sufficient so that there are no obstacles when creating your community, OK!
Alright, let's try to create a community by following these steps:
Step 1
The first step is to create the start page of the Steemit Website, then look at the tool column in the red box shown in the image below.
Step 2
Scroll down until you get the words "Explore Communities", and click on it.
Step 3
Then you will be taken to the next page which contains a list of communities that are on Steemit, and at the top there is a button "Create a Community", click on that button.
Step 4
After that, you will be taken to your wallet page which looks like the image below.
Step 5
Fill in the name of the community you want to create in the "TITLE" column and create a description that explains what you and your community members want to post to your community, then click the "Next" button.
Step 6
After that, you will be given the owner's name and password for your community, copy and save both data in a safe place! because it is very important data and should not be lost.
Then check the box under your password column which indicates that you have saved your owner name and password safely. Finally, click on the "Create Community" button to continue.
Step 7
A pop-up will appear from Steemit asking for approval to take your 3 STEEMs as a condition for creating a community, click on the "Ok" button.
Step 8
After that, you will be asked to enter your Steemit account username and your account password, you can enter your Active Key or Owner Key or Master Key but I suggest just entering the Active Key so that your Master and Owner Key can stay offline.
Step 9
Wait a few moments for your community creation process to finish.
Step 10
And done !!
Your community is complete. To view pages from your community click on the "Get Started" button.
Step 11
Then you will be taken to your community page which looks like the image below, and you can immediately make your first post to your community.
Step 12
If we look at the description column, it will show that you are made the admin of the community.
Last Word (Conclusion)
In my opinion, the existence of Steemit will make social media competition develop, where many other social media are comfortable making their own profit without giving back to its users. But Steemit is able to change all that with the Decentralized system it implements on this platform. Indeed, for now, Steemit is still not very well known by many people, but I'm sure that with a very good system, many people will soon find out and turn to Steemit as their place on social media.
