Introduction
In the Steem Blockchain the content creators and curators are rewarded at 7 days age of their post. This means that the post payout matures at 7 days. During these 7 days, the post receives upvotes (or downvotes if any) and the net amount of a post payout is then distributed among the author and curator(s) respectively in a ratio of 50%/50%.
What will happens if you vote before 5 mins age of post and after 6 days 12 hours age of post in Steem Blockchain?
As we all know, the rewards are allocated in ratio 50:50 to both curators and author. Out of the 50% that went to the curators, the curator will receive less than 100% curation reward if he votes before 5 minutes of the post age. The reward is calculated linearly.
If a post is votes at the instant moment of posting, 100% of the curation will still remain in the reward pool, none will go to the curator
At 1 minute, the curator will receive 20% while 80% goes to the reward pool.
At 2 minutes, the curator receives 40% while 60% remains in the reward pool.
At 3 minutes, the curator receives 60% while 40% remains at the reward pool.
At 4 minutes, the curator receives 80% while 20% goes to the reward pool.
At 5 minutes or later, the curator receives 100% it more of the curation reward and none goes to the reward pool.
On the other hand, if a curator votes a post after 6 days 12 hours age of a post, the voting worth starts depleting at a linear rate. The depletion starts at 0% at 6 days 12 hours and 100% depletion at 7 days of q post.
How to check how much post reward went back to the reward pool.

From the above screenshot, I'll use @kevinwong as a case study for better understanding. He voted my post at 4m 33ecs, he voted at 10%
voting weight at $0.39. When the post pays out, he will not receive a 100% curation reward, because he voted in less than 5minutes of the post age
Circumstances where a post earns more than 100% curation reward.
Basically, the general voting window is between 5 minutes and 6 days 12 hours age of post. So the curation reward for a single curator depends on the timing and position of the upvote.

From the above formula:
PT = Post payout at the end of 7 days.
P0 = post payout before voting
P1 = post payout after voting
Assumption; the curator voted after 5 minutes of post.
So ∆t = 1
Let's assume that a post payout after 7 days is $9.
We have:
PT = $9 with $1 voting power, and the curator is the first curator.
P1 = $1.
Now Pcuration = (1/2) * (√9) * (√1 - √0) = $1.5
Result is this; the curator's upvote value is $1, if he is the first curator of the post, the payout at 7 days is $9 and he earned $1.5 as a curation reward, that is 150% upvote value as a curation reward.

I will use my vote on @ngoenyi's post as a case study.
Voting time: 1day 16hrs 58m 48sec.
Voting weight/Position: 90%
Voting Amount: 0.03
Curation Reward: 0.036sp.
The role of curation in better content discovery.
Curation helps to checkmate the trustworthy source of a content.
Curation reveals if the post added value to the lives of the community members of the Steem Blockchain who read the post.
Curation helps to fish our plagirarized/spam content, then indicate that in the post and let the community know the existence of such harmful content.
Curation helps to identify quality contents for better rewards.
