in SteemitCryptoAcademy3 years ago

Hello everyone, its with great pleasure that i attempt this Week's homework task by @stream4u. It is all about coinmarketcap and i must say a big thank you for giving a well interesting and detailed lecture on it. I will go ahead to write my homework task.

1.What is Coinmarketcap.com?

Coinmarketcap is a platform that gives a user full access to the information and details of thousands of verified crytocurrency you can think of in the ecosystem. Coinmarketcap was first founded in 2013 and situated its headquarters in U.S. Ever since it has become a very popular and important platform for both cryptocurrencies and exchanges in the system.

However, this platform has shown a high level of importance to users by keeping track of assets and making available some important details about assets like the price behaviour of tokens over time, the ranks of tokens by market capitalization and other information a trader might need to carry out a trade. I would say in a nutshell, that Coinmarketcap breaks down the necessary information about a token as needed by the trader.

iMarkup_20210709_125838.jpg

2.How is Coinmarketcap.com useful for Crypto User/Trader?

Just as i have stated before in the above paragraph, Coinmarketcap.combreaks down the information needed by users/traders, and this platform has shown some level of usefulness to users by providing relevant information like asset price, market capitalization, total supply, volume (24h), circulating supply and so on.

I will go ahead to discuss some important information that Coinmarketcap.com provides for a trader, and those can be found in the Cryptocurrencies Section, i will also add some screenshots for a better view of all i will be discussing.

iMarkup_20210709_130334.jpg

Pricing: Coinmarketcap helps to provide the accurate price of tokens. Different exchanges have different prices for different tokens and this can be confusing most times, but what Coinmarketcap does is, collect all these prices, synchronize them and update the users with a very good average price. So with that, users can know the real price of an asset before carrying out a trade.

Volume (24h): Coinmarketcap provides information on the trading volume of all the listed coin traded over a period of 24-hour and this trading volume is determined by all the transactions carried out on all other exchanges, not limited to just a particular exchange. So this platform combines those transactions and updates its users.

iMarkup_20210709_130517.jpg

Circulating Supply: Coinmarketcap reveals the number of asset supplied to users/trader so that they can be able to have the knowledge of how these assets behave. Now, circulating supply is quite different from total supply, circulating supply means the number of asset that is in circulation at the moment and this depends on the demand and supply mechanism where the higher the supply the lower the prices and vise versa while total supply is the total number of asset generated in the longest life span of the cryptocurrency.

Market Capitalization: Market Capitalization is not left out from the cryptocurrency section and it simply means the total value of a token that is mined. This can be calculated by multiplying the current total asset in circulation to the price of a unit of the asset. So Coinmarketcap visually does that and rank the assets by the market capitalization.

iMarkup_20210709_130834.jpg
From the screenshot above, we can see that Litecoin ranks number 14 with a live market capitalization of $8,626,960,581.76 , its price today is $130 with a 24-hour trading volume of $1,498,481,521, it records 66,752,415LTC coins as its circulating supply and 84,000,000LTC coins as its total supply.

Chart pattern of 7 days: This chart shows the price behaviour of coins over the last 7 days. It also shows the trend of the coins and with that, it enables users make a clear decision on investment and trading.

There are some other important features that the Coinmarketcap contains that i would like to highlight, they are the Watchlist and Portfolio. The Watchlist enables user monitor their trading assets without going through all the thousands of coins on the platform. While Portfolio is a place where you can see your invested asset. This place holds all the coins that you have so that you can monitor them at anytime.

3.Explain the Individual Pages Of Each Crypto Coin on CoinMarketCap.

For this question, i would like to use the individual page of the Litecoin cryptocurrency to explain the process. So starting from the front page of this coin, you can see that Litecoin ranks number 14 with a live market capitalization of $8,626,960,581.76 , Price as $130 with a 24-hour trading volume of $1,498,481,521, it records 66,752,415LTC coins as its circulating supply and 84,000,000LTC coins as its total supply.

iMarkup_20210709_135718.jpg

4.Explain I detail Any 5, What are the CORE Features and Sub-Features available on CoinMarketCap.com?

So for this task, you can see from the front page that there are 8 CORE Feature on CoinMarketCap which when explored, has some other Sub-Features in them but for the sake of this task, i will be showing some screenshots of those feature and their Sub-features.

iMarkup_20210710_002221.jpg

Cryptocurrencies (Core feature)

The first core feature that can be found on CoinMarketCap is Cryptocurrencies. This contains all the information about all the listed asset on the platform. This information is found within the Sub-core features found in the cryptocurrencies feature and they are: Ranking, Recently Added, Legal Tender Countries, Global Charts, Fiats/Companies Ranking, Spotlight, Gainers and Losers, Historical snapshots. So when each the sub core features are explored, you will find numerous information about Cryptocurrencies.

iMarkup_20210710_002403.jpg

Ranking (Sub-Core feature).

Ranking is one of the Sub-core features found in the Cryptocurrencies core feature, it shows the ranking of all the listed asset based on their Market Cap. They are arranged from the highest to the lowest. So as you can see from the screenshot below, Bitcoin is Ranking #1 with Market Cap of $637,091773,567, and so it continues with other cryptocurrencies.

iMarkup_20210710_002734.jpg

Recently Added

In this Sub-Core feature, crypto assets that were just recently added to the platform are displayed here. Here, you can find some details about them like the price, trading volume, blockchain network, Market Cap and time it was added. From the screenshot below, we can see the assets that were just added today and all its details, here users can analyse them and decide on which to invest on.

iMarkup_20210710_003049.jpg

Exchanges

Another important and sensitive core feature found on CoinMarketCap is the Exchanges. Here we can find the various exchanges listed with all their various crypto trades. There are some Sub-Core features found here too, they are Spot, Derivatives, Dex, and Where to Buy. Lets take a look at them.

iMarkup_20210710_003208.jpg

Spot.

This Sub-core feature displays the exchanges that allows Spot Trading and Spot trading is a kind of trade that is been carried out on a spot, once the buy/sell order equals the price thatss been placed by the trader, it immediately completes. Now CoinMarketCap ranks these exchanges based on the features found in the screenshot below.

iMarkup_20210710_003440.jpg

So these information will help a user choose the exchange of his/her choice. However, clicking on the individual exchanges, we can still gain more information on the currencies, information about their Pairs, Price, Depth, Volume and so on.

5.How or When CoinMarketCap.com Decides to List a Coin?

For this task, My research took me to the CoinMarketCap.com website where they explained the process of getting listed on the platform. CoinMarketCap made it clear that application can only be done through an online submission form and it is very important for the applicant to check the following before submitting this application.

  • That All the necessary information about this cryptoasset is provided and are well-constructed and Organized.
  • That All the information about the cryptoasset is correct and from a verifiable source, that is, there should be no False information about it.

Furthermore, for this cryptoasset to be listed, they should be able to exhibit some certain features which includes having a consensus algorithm, be able to leverage cryptography, must have the peer-to-peer technology or adopt the Smart Contract function for a secured transactions on a decentralized application.

Moreso, this asset should have an active website, a block explorer and can be traded publicly, most importantly on one of the exchanges listed on CoinMarketCap. Lastly, a representation from this project should be made available to CoinMarketCap for any clarification. Now, the asset is been listed if the the features mentioned above is been exhibited by it but if not, they have created space for them on the untracked listing Site and are outlined as follows:

  • Inactive Listing: Projects that do not have the presence of market data, that is, it is not actively traded on any exchange listed by CoinMarketCap and to be reactivated, the asset should be actively traded on at least two exchanges liste on CoinMarketCap.
  • Unverified Listing: this consist of asset that havent been reviewed by CoinMarketCap but their price data can be show up when searched for.
  • Untracked Listing: This consist of projects that does not exhibit those features mentioned above but exhibit some strength in some other scrutiny process.
  • Tracking Listing: This consist of projects that have exhibited the proper features mentioned above and also pass the other scrutiny process.

Most of my research result comes from Here.

6.How or When CoinMarketCap.com decides to list an Exchange?

The process at which CoinMarketCap list an exchange have a little similarities with that of a crytoasset by then there is a small change in the process. CoinMarketCap made it clear that application shouldnt be done through an email or social media platform but should go through the right process which is an online submission form. However, applicant are advised to provide information that is true and verifiable.

An exchange should exhibit some features that can make them worthy of listing in the CoinMarketCap platform and these features includes having a functional and active website where the trading volume matches with its API data, it should publish a summary of shows the last price and 24h trading volume of every asset on the exchange, it should have been running for at least 60 days as it counts for this requirement, market orders placed by traders should be made available and the exchange must allow traders view their trading pairs with out logging in to the website.

In addition to the features, a repesentation of the project should be make available to CoinMarketCap for better clarification and requests sent through an email with same domain name as the exchange is paid attention to more. So if this exchange meets all of the above listed feature, the comes listing and then the similar principle for listing of an exchange follows that of an asset.

Most of my research if from here.

7.What is the purpose of the Uniswap Feature on the CoinMarketCap.com Site and How a Trader can Use it?

The purpose of the Uniswap Feature on CoinMarketCap is to enable users swap their tokens easily most especially the ERC-20 token. CoinMarketCap allows both registered and unregistered users to carry out this services. However, since Uniswap is a DApp, it does not need the interference of a third party to carry out its services. Now the Uniswap DApp is found in on of the Sub-Core features of CoinMarketCap called Swap embedded in the Product feature. I will be showing how to navigate the Uniswap DApp.

How to navigate the Uniswap DApp and Swap a token.

  • First step, when you Go to the Front page of the CoinMarketCap, you will see the Swap Icon at the bottom of the page, click on it.

iMarkup_20210710_072558.jpg

  • Next interface was the space where i can swap my token but then i have to connect to my wallet first, so i click on Connect Wallet.

iMarkup_20210710_072737.jpg

  • Once i clicked on that, a drop down of wallets came out and i clicked my preferred wallet, which is Formatic.

iMarkup_20210710_072855.jpg

  • I was expected to **Sign up/log in which was quite easy and fast. I did that by inputting my Email address and a 6 digit code was sent to my mail, which i went ahead to input, the last process was to input my Password and immediately i did that, my wallet was connected.

iMarkup_20210710_073011.jpg

iMarkup_20210710_073113.jpg

iMarkup_20210710_073231.jpg

  • After that, i am ready to swap my token, which i did in the screenshot below but then, i have insufficient token in my wallet, however i have just illustrated the proceed.

iMarkup_20210710_073437.jpg

8.What s Blockchain Explorer? What information are available under Blockchain Explorer? How many Blockchain Explorer are available on the CoinMarkCap.com and How it helps Users?

What is Blockchain Explorer?

In otherwords, Users can get all the information about a particular asset, information like the price of the asset, transaction details and block. The blockchain Explorer can be found in the PRODUCT feature of the CoinMarketCap platform as seen in the screenshot below.
