Blockchain Forks

For me personally it is a contest that is a little difficult for me to understand, since it is not a field that I know. However, in the form of an effort to be able to learn more in the field of Crypto, it doesn't hurt for me to try the Week 4 contest in the Steemit Crypto Academy community. The fallacy that I present is purely because of my lack of understanding to be able to understand the true meaning.

Earlier I invited my seniors at Steemit to participate if you all like. they are @radjasalman, @alee75, @abialfatih, @ridwant, @sailawana, @liasteem, @sabarman, @chopper46, and many others of course.

Here's a little explanation that I might be able to give, hopefully it will be a lesson for me.

Using your own terms to define what is a fork in general?

11.jpg

I try to define fork with a simple analogy related to my hobby in football, to help me to describe it, like this.

In Italy there is a city that has a big name with 2 very famous football clubs, the city is called the city of Milan. At first, the city of Milan has one football club called Ac Milan, but over time was born a new Club called Inter Milan was. These two clubs come from the same city, have the same goal, but with the way they play and also have their way to make them grow into two big clubs that come from the city of Milan. This means that in terms of clubs they have no relationship, but in terms of cities, they are the same. The city of Milan they have two branches of clubs that they can support, meaning that it depends on which club they like.

This fork is called a Fork, which is the separation of the same Crypto into two parts through programming code. Generally called the old version and the new version which is not interconnected between one and the other, because it has a different program. But can be run by using the same software when not fighting each other, this is where a new term arises that is Soft Fork or equation software used.

Using any blockchain example, explain what a Hard Fork is.

12.jpg

Recently, precisely this year Crypto Luna experienced a fork called A Hard Fork, previously Luna only had one name, namely, coin Luna itself. As the cryptocurrency collapsed, a census was taken to save and push Luna back from its worst rush, with disputes resulting in the decision to create a new type of Luna, hence the Hard Fork. Finally, a new type of Luna coin was issued called Terra Luna, while the old Luna remained under the name Luna Classic.

Although I am not sure about this opinion, what happened to Luna also happened to Steem and Hive, these two Crypto coins have blockchain-based platforms.

Using any blockchain example, explain what a Soft Fork is.

13.jpg

As far as I read and understand a Soft Fork is a way of updating software to make it much better and have much stricter rules and much better, meaning that here there is no Hard Fork in a Crypto or branching. So that updates that occur in the software used can still be carried out with the new software version, without the separation of the two cryptos caused by updates or changes in the devices used. An example is BTC, which has changed the blocks and rules it uses, without a hard Fork of the old BTC into its new version.

What are the differences between Hard Forks and Soft Forks?

In general and simple as I mentioned above, Hard forks occur due to program changes that are carried out, so that they present new Crytpo from the same trunk but have no relationship between them, meaning that they are separate even though they are formed from the same branch.

Whereas a Soft Fork is an update of the software of a Crypto without separating into two different parts because a Soft Fork only changes or tightens a device towards the latest version. This means that the old version can be run using the new version of the software or vice versa.

Explain the Steem and Hive Hard fork by showing the similarities/differences in their Genesis blocks.

Steem was originally a fork or copy of the BTC code, over time the developers of the block split into two different parts due to differences that I did not know much about. The branching of Steem into Hive is the beginning of the same thing, as is the case with Terra Luna and Luna Classic.

The Genesis block owned by Steem and Hive looks different from the two, even though they are connected in a blockchain. But still not connected or different has a different blog, this is the difference because the previous block is not connected with the new blog and also has a different value.

This is all I can explain, this is purely the fruit of my thinking based on my understanding of this little, hopefully, mistakes can be corrected as a lesson for me personally. best regards to all of you.

two different parts due to differences that I did not know much about. The branching of Steem into Hive is the beginning of the same thing, as is the case with Terra Luna and Luna Classic.

The reason behind hard fork of steem and hive is integration of Tron with steemit which was perceived as an attempt to disrupt the decentralized functioning of the steemit by some of the witnesses of steemit.

LUNA and LUNC hardwork resulted from the crash of LUNA following some Technical glitch in algorithm.

Good luck

Thank you for the information you provided, good luck to you.

Saya sama sekali tidak mengerti tentang crypto, namun setelah membaca postingan yang anda bagikan, saya mulai sedikit memahaminya, itulah hebatnya anda, dalam setiap postingan selalu di penuhi dengan ilmu dan motivasi,

Terima kasih atas undangannya, semoga sukses pak irfan🙏💪

Anda selalu memberikan komentar positif untuk saya, terima kasih banyak🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

🙏🙏😅

Senior saja masih merasa kesulitan membahas tentang crypto, apa lagi saya yang baru belajar di Steemit.

Terima kasih atas undangannya bg @fantvwiki. Semoga sukses dalam kontes ini...

Terima kasih bang sabarman🙏🏻

Learning crypto science is learning how we know how to invest and trade well and for good results. Thanks for mentioning me in this big contest sir @fantvwiki

I must say, I really loved your very well detailed post and the analogy about the football teams in millan.

A fork before I was crypto inclined was a cutlery I used in eating meals and another used in gardening, but you have explained explicitly what it really means..

Good luck!

🤣🤣🤣At first I thought like that.

You gave amazing example of football clubs for better understanding of forks. This was good to read in your post. Maybe Luna classic and terra Luna, this is best example for comparison between steem and hive.

Luar biasa bang irfan, saya akan berusaha juga untuk nulis di crypto academy

Terima kasih Pak Abialfatih.
