Coinmarketcap is a cryptocurrency website which shows us the ranking of crypto coins based on it's volumes traded,it's market capitalisation and it's price list and other factors.
Coinmarketcap.com is a site that shows us the list of crypto coins that are available for purchase and gives us the general information about this crypto coin.

As of the time is explored by me coinmarketcap.com have about 5,554 crypto coins listed on coinmarketcap with BTC occupying the top spot and PogCoin occupying the last position at 5,554th.

To bring it home with an example, it's like going to a mobile shop to purchase a phone and ofcourse we are being shown different options available like the iPhone, Samsung, techno and Gionee product etc.

But there is a huge gap or notable difference in this example i gave because in coinmarketcap it does not just give us the list of available cryptocoin available for purchase or the prices at which they could be purchased but it also give us the market capitalisation in terms of how much money is flowing into the crypto markets in terms of liquidity, the volume of trades of a crypto coin which could be in the last 24 hours or the lifetime volume of trade of that crypto coin.

So in all coinmarketcap.com gives us a well rounded information on the price movement of the cryptocurrency market by putting different factors in to consideration.

Usefulness Of Coinmarketcap To Us

Coinmarketcap serves as a research tool for us who are into cryptocurrency and i believe that the information it provides is of utmost importance to a crypto trader or an investor. coinmarketcap provide us with useful information which are needed before choosing on what coin to invest on or probably to trade on as the case may be. Information such as; The total number of coins in circulation for a particular cryptocoin, the current price of a crypto coin after putting so many factors into consideration and the volumes that the coin is trading on which could be on the last 24 hours on the last seven days or the last week or months depending on which time frame we are looking at.

indeed coinmarketcap is a very good source of information before deciding on a coin to invest on, because it does not just provide the volumes of trades but also the market capitalisation as well as the total supply of coins in circulation or the price of the coin but it gives us the overall historical data of any crypto coin that we are willing to invest on and that information is very crucial before deciding where to put our money on.

it also provides us with a technical chart overview of the movement of the market which could be in the last 24 hours or spanning in the ranges of months or years as the case may be.

so i strongly believe that coinmarketcap is of utmost importance to any crypto-currency trader or investor.

Informations such as;

Markets: this section shows the different exchanges which this crypto coin can be traded on and at what price is valued presently by the exchange and this also shows the different pairs available on each exchange on a particular crypto coin. For example on binance we only have two pairs for Steem that is STEEM/BTC & STEEM/ETH pairs.

News: this section provides us with the recent update as to what is happening to a crypto coin. It gives us the accurate recent news on a cryptocurrency or a coin. and of course this news are very important as we know most times depending on the news it could actually affect the price movement of a crypto coin if the news is bullish or bearish as the case might be. As we know FUD news affect prices negativly and positive news often has a positive impact on the price of a cryptocoin.

Overview: this section provides us with the different technical charts of a cryptocurrency. These charts are actually subdivided into three; we have the price chart, marketcap and trading view chart.

Historical Data: this section shows us the price a crypto coin opens at each day it's all time high for the day it's all time low for the day the volume at which it traded for the day and it's marketcap for the day. you can actually check for this information for any specific day because it is readily available.

Analysis: this section helps us to understand the current movement of a cryptocurrency. It help us to determine the current trajectory as to whether a coin is bullish, bearish or in a sideways movement.

Ratings: FCAS(Fundamental Crypto Asset Score) a metric use to determine fundamental health of a crypto project using factors such as user activity,developer behaviour and market maturity of a crypto asset. so this section uses this matric to rate a crypto coin. Which based on this rating steem have a Health rating of 670 B

Socials: this section provides various social media trending news about a crypto asset which we help us to gain other people's opinion or views about a crypto assets which will no doubt heighten our view of such project from a different perspective. Which might be on Twitter, Facebook,reddit etc.

Some Core Features Of Coinmarketcap

Heat Map: this feature allows for data to be presented graphically with the use of colour. Coinmarketcap uses this feature to showcase a preliminary information about a coin. It is used for data analysis and is being optimised in a way that the viewer can be able to be presented with as much information as possible. it allows for large volumes of data to be communicated at once.

Newsletter: this feature allows us to be able to receive daily e-mails from coinmarketcap from Mondays to Friday on analysis of the crypto market and recent updates. I love this feature

How to guide: this is another wonderful feature of coinmarketcap I really appreciate. In that it helps newbies to be able to get basic know how on cryptocurrency. It explains how to actually open a wallet how to have an address and some basic terms that are used in cryptocurrency such as dollar cost averaging, how to mint tokens and so much more. It is a basic source of information for one who is just getting started on cryptocurrency just like the name implies it is a how-to guides which is vital.

Watchlist: this feature is used to keep track of coins. Let's say get some coins we want to monitor to know it's movements and the market the volumes and every information we need on that coin probably we are looking to invest into the coin. so it is useful for research in a coin we we want to keep tabs on that is we are interested in or we are heavily invested on. as the name implies the watch list helps us to keep a list of coins that we are most interested in under study surveillance.

The Glossery: this provides us with the possible names or terminologies used in cryptos in alphabetical orders and their meaning in a way that a newbie can be able to understand

How/When Coinmarketcap Decides To List A Coin

Well after a careful and thorough research on Coinmarketcap i have come to know some points or some criterias as the case may be that a coin has to meet or an ICO(initial coin offering) in order to be listed on coinmarketcap. I have outlined the criteria below based on my findings. For a coin to be listed on Coinmarketcap it must;
(1) Be a cryptocurrency or a cryptocoin

(2) Have a functional website and block explorer

(3) Be traded publicly and actively at least on one exchange that has tracked listing volume on coinmarketcap

(4) Must present a representative from the project to enable communications for further clarifications

Ofcourse merely meeting the above criteria is not a guarantee that a coin is to be listed on coinmarketcap but instead for them to even be considered to be listed on coinmarketcap then this requirement has to be met as coinmarketcap will also carry out their own extensive research to make sure that such crypto project is not a scam.

When/How An Exchange Is Listed On Coinmarketcap

just like a a crypto asset has to meet certain criteria in order to be listed on coin market cap in that same note for an exchange to be listed on coinmarketcap there are some requirements it must meet which does not necessarily guarantee that it must be listed but at least ensures that it is being considered for listing on coinmarketcap. They are as follows:

(1) It must be in operation for at least 60 days

(2) most allowed traders to place buy and sell orders on order book

(3) it must have a functional website with trading volume that matches its API data

(4) Must publishe a summary API endpoint that exposes the last price and 24-hour volume of each crypto asset

(5) Must allow users to view all market pairs/order books without having to log into the website

(6) Should also provide a representative from the exchange for communication for further clarifications if need be

(7) Request originating from emails that share the domain of the exchange will be Prioritize

(8) Must have direct URL s links that display each asset unambiguously

These are the requirements and exchange has to meet in order to be considered for tracked listing on coinmarketcap

How To Use Uniswap & It's Purpose & integration on coinmarketcap

Uniswap is a decentralized financial exchange or Dex which allows anyone to take parts in the transactions of Ethereum base tokens without a central body or middle man. It is built on the ethereum blockchain using smart contract it replaces traditional centralised market tool like exchange listing and order books with automated and permissionless liquidity pools executed purely by algorithm.

Now being this feature being integrated on coinmarketcap ensure that traders are able to trade erc20 tokens on the ethereum blockchain without having to move their assets to a centralised exchange without the need of an order book as the case may be. now this is very easy and simple as users can easily swap they are erc20 tokens at will.

now we are going to go through where this feature is located on coinmarketcap and how we can easily make use of this.

After opening up the coinmarketcap.com site on the bottom right corner we are going to see a blue icon with two arrows pointing opposite direction indicating swap. We could click on that and immediately will be taking to uniswap to swap our erc-20 token

Now when this open I could actually choose the token I want to swap to ethereum or to swap from ethereum to. Not supposed I was to go ahead then I would connect my wallet and my swap will be successful.

A note though, Metamask, walletconnect, coinbase wallet, fortmatic and portis wallet are accepted

This integration of uniswap by coinmarketcap is indeed a wonderful one in that traders could easily come on-site and do virtually all the transactions they want to do without moving to any exchange. I must say i love this.

Blockchain Explorer

The blockchain explorer is a platform that pulls up data on transactions made from the network of one block chain to another.

On the blockchain explorer we can find information such as the wallet address of the sender and the receiver, the timestamp that is the time that the transaction was made and the amount or the amount of the transaction that was made.

Also each transaction in the blockchain is assigned a hash ID that is a unique identifier which shows all the information about the payment and whether it was made from a wallet into A wallet B. The blockchain explorer acts as a large database which is useful for the efficient running of a cryptocurrency because of the informations that can be sourced from it.

This wonderful feature is also one of the core features of Coinmarketcap.com and we can easily access it from the site.

Now from this pix we can see the informations that are readily available on the litecoin blockchain. We can see the list of transactions being made. We can also see the amount being transacted, we can also see the wallet address that created the transaction, we can also see the address that receive and as well as the date in which the transaction was being made.

On this liteoin blockchain explorer we can also see the price of the coin, the volumes being traded, its market capitalisation and circulating supply. so these are the various information we can actually fine on the block chain explorer of a crypto asset and this is how we can be able to browse this feature on coinmarketcap.com.

Conclusion

Well based on my exploration of coinmarketcap.com I must confess I am indeed short of words on as simple way to simply define coinmarketcap.com.

Coinmarketcap is richly packed with tools to help an experience crypto trader or someone who is not that experienced as well but know a little about cryptocurrency whi may be described as being on an intermediate-level as well as a beginner who does not know anything at all about cryptocurrency.

I must confess before now the informations I thought we could get from coinmarketcap.com was kind of limited but from this assignment and my exploration of coinmarketcap.com I must say that i am impressed by the wonderful feature available on coinmarketcap.com and henceforth will be an integral tool in my research.

I will simply say that coinmarketcap.com is a site that offers and all-round information from the grassroots to the advanced level any information we might seek to find in the world of cryptocurrency. It is an enriching source of information and I am happy to have explored this wonderful cryptocurrency based site.
