Crypto enthusiasts most often do research to gain more knowledge and obtain information concerning their investments. One of such sites where crypto lovers most often used is coinmarketcap.com

This is a site that provide users with information with regards to prices of crypto assets. There are varieties of coins on this site, with their market prices, market volume well presented. It is one of the most used site by crypto users to get updated information about crypto currencies.

There exist many useful features on the site accessible to investors and those interested in trading. On the site, an investor or trader can access market supply of any coin, the volume and market capital. These information helps a trader to make wise investments.

On coinmarketcap.com, management decides on the type of coins to be listed on the site. Once a coin is listed on the site, it gives more credit to support the coin grow as many persons trade or invest in the currency. About 5531 coins are categorised and listed on the coinmarketcap site.

The site is open to everyone irrespective of whether you are an investor or trader. We are in a free money world where crypto currency is fast growing globally. I am going to discuss about BTC coin. The information to be discussed varies from overview, market, historical chart, holders, wallets, news, socials, ratings, analysis, and price estimated.

Overview:
This feature gives information about the behaviour of BTC coin based on time period. Here users/traders can identify the rise and fall of prices in previous times. A graph is used to represent the pattern of the asset. The graph represents the price, market cap, and trading view of BTC. The price chart is plotted following a time period ranging from a day to 7days, 1month till a year.

Market:
The market provides information or data base on the market of BTC. It provides data on the trading pairs available on different exchange platforms. It equally gives different options for trading such as spot, perpetual and futures.

Historical chart:
It provides the history of assets based on prices of the asset ranging from 1 day to over a year. Traders can use this to select price ranges by dates. It shows when the price of the asset is open, high, low, close, volume, and market capital per day.

Holders:
This section provides statistics on the over all number of holders addresses, active addresses, and as well statistics of top holders of the asset represented in percentage.

Wallets:
Here the various wallets available for users or traders to use and store BTC asset are outlined. It also shows addresses of the available wallets.

News:
This feature provides up to date information to users. The news is divided into “latest news and Alexandria.

Socials:
Here tweets, and recent news about BTC asset is presented. The social platform that is mostly included on the socials feature concerning BTC is “Reddit.com”

Ratings:
This shows the behaviours of BTC on the coinmarketcap site. The behaviour is determined based on the user activity, market maturity, and developer behaviour.

Analysis:
This provides statistics which determines the position of the asset in the market over time. The analysis shows when the asset will bearish or bullish. It equally gives the amount of holders of the asset who are making profits.

Price Estimate:
This section is under Beta testing as seen on the screenshot below. Here one can place an estimate for the next 6months. Cut off for the estimate is done every month as of the 21st of each month.

I am going to explain 5 features including core and sub-core features on coinmarketcap.com. They are as follows:

1. Cryptocurrencies: This is a core feature which gives detailed information with regards to listed cryptocurrencies on the site. Under cryptocurrencies as a core feature, there are sub-core features such as ranking, recently added, legal tender, global charts.

2. Ranking: this is a sub-core feature under cryptocurrencies. Here all crypto assets are listed in order of preference with regards to market capitalisation of the asset.

3. Recently Added: This is another sub-core feature. It indicates cryptocurrencies that were added on the platform of recent. It shows data as regards to name, price, trading volume, blockchain etc of the asset.

4. Exchanges: This is another core feature found on coinmarketcap.com which shows various exchange platforms, with different types of assets for trading. It shows spot, Derivatives, Dex, and where to buy.

5. Spot: This is a sub-core feature which shows the various exchange platforms that does spot trading. For clarity purpose, spot trading is done at the spot through creating an order book. The order book has a price set to buy or sell once the current price meets up with the price set up in the order book. The spot trading indicates the volume, coins, price, pairs, and depth of a particular trading platform.

How or when Coinmarketcap.com decides to list a coin.

There exist thousands of crypto assets, and it is obvious that many of such assets will request to be listed on this site for more exposure. Before a coin is listed on coinmarketcap, it must meet up with some rules.
What to bear in mind before requesting for a coin to be listed is that the application process is done online. The person requesting need to provide verifiable and unbiased information concerning the coin.

Criteria used to list a coin are as follows

1. The coin must have a distributed ledger, and shows leverage cryptography.
2. It must be compatible with smart contracts so that it can enable use of DApps with regards to automated transactions.
3. The coin must have a website that is active
4. The coin is being traded publicly and active on an exchange platform listed on coinmarketcap.
5. A representative from the project team should be provided to coinmarketcap for communication purposes, for verification, and clarity of worries.

Evaluation of Data
There are several ways of evaluating data submitted for coin listing on coinmarketcap. These are as follows:

1. The asset is evaluated by looking at the trade volume, pairs, activeness of the asset in terms of trading.
2. Evaluate the engagement and interest of the project community.
3. Evaluate project team to see their level of trust.
4. The longevity for the projects is evaluated to ensure that it is genuine and last.

Listing
Coinmarketcap subdivided listing in to the following:
- Inactive Listing: This include projects that are not actively trading on coinmarketcap. However, they can be reactivated if the asset starts trading, and listed on at least 2 exchange platforms on coinmarketcap.
- Unverified Listing: Here prices of projects only appears when searched, but not yet verified on coinmarketcap.
- Untracked listing: There are projects that have not followed the criteria of coinmarketcap but has been evaluated.
- Tracked listing: projects that appear under this feature has meet up with all criteria for evaluation process.

How or When coinmarketcap.com decides to list Exchange.

Before coinmarketcap decides to list an exchange platform on the site, there are some steps to follow based on certain criteria.

Application: The application is done online and the exchange platform must be able to proof that the information provided is unbiased.

Criteria: There are some criteria to be followed before submitting application for exchange listing. These included:

• There must exist an active website whereby the trading volume relates to the API data.
• There must be a summarised information published indicating price, and 24hours trading volume of any asset found on the exchange.
• The exchange site must be functional for a period of at least 60 days. It should equally has an order book whereby buyers/sellers could placed orders and captured in the order book.
• It should allow traders/users to view the market, trade pairs available with anonymousity and not necessarily login on the platform.

Evaluating Data: Information submitted must be evaluated, and has some steps to follow:

• Evaluation is done to know the trading volume and pairs to know of the trading volume meet up with the API data submitted.
• Evaluate the interest and engagement of the exchange platform.
• Evaluate the team involved in the exchange to know if they are competent to meet up with the standards.
• Evaluate to know if the exchange platform is unique and has some innovative moves.

Listing: once an exchange platform meets up with the criteria and evaluation process, it is granted listing on the tracked listing on coinmarketcap.

What is the Purpose of the Uniswap feature on the coinmarketcap.com site and how a trader can use it

To begin with, I am going to first of all give a brief understanding of Uniswap. This is a decentralised exchange platform which gives users the opportunity to swap ERC-20 tokens without the interference of a third party in the transaction. Here users can play a role of liquidity providers. Uniswap is not restricted to only registered persons, but can be used by all.

How a trader can use Uniswap

• Open coinmarketcap.com, scroll down the page,and click on “swap” on the bottom of the page.

• Select pairs of the coin intended to swap as seen on the screenshot below.

• Click on connect wallet, and choose the type of wallet you need. Once you select the wallet, click on connect , then the swap is initiated.

Blockchain explorer is a software that uses API & other blockchain nodes to look for data from the blockchain, and present it in an orderly manner which makes it easier to be searched. Blockchain explorer therefore could be seen as a search engine which gives access to all to search for information on transactions done on the blockchain.

Using Binance Coin Explorer on Coinmarketcap
The following is a step by step process on how to use Binance coin explorer.
Step 1: Click on Binance coin explorer, then click on the three dots as indicated on the screenshot below. These will show “view blocks, view transactions, and view market data”.

Step 2: Click on “view transactions”, all list of recent transactions, date/time, fees, and transaction type, hash ID. Click on blocks in order to see all transactions initiated.

Step 3: In order to see details of a particular transaction, click on “hash ID” of a transaction to see the amount transferred, fees charged, address, time/date of the transaction.

Conclusion
In sum, coinmarketcap has made me improved on my understanding of crypto currencies, and exchange platforms. It has equally made me to know how the market of crypto assets functions. These information will help me make wise and informed decisions of my assets. I can confidently monitor the market and know when to buy or sell.
