Corrections
Now I will address some problematic areas:
The Bid-Ask Spread:
In this part, the students were asked to properly explain the bid-ask spread. The explanation included the formulas and also clear illustrations to prove that the concept was properly understood. Some students just gave screenshots without explaining further!while some did not give the formulas. Some did not even include any images. All these things matter.
Importance of the Spread:
I really expected to see more points on this but most students just explained the liquidity concept that was given in the lesson. I would take part of the blame on this because I feel I did not construct the question properly. My bad.
Slippage:
The Slippage concept is related to the Bid-Ask spread. With this, in the explanation, I expected the students to talk about how the Spread relates to slippage. Normally, in a Slippage situation, the spread changes abruptly as an order is executed.
Observations and Feedback
Language Barrier:
I noticed that some Spanish users could not properly translate the topic and I understand. However, I would like to ask that you all try to stick to the general concept when doing research. I know that some terms might not translate well but the overall concept still stands if the topic is properly understood.
Originality and Expression:
This season I introduced the “Expression” criteria because of the issue of creativity in the academy. I noticed a lot of similar content among the students. Students that just paraphrase other sites never stand out. In any task, we expect the students to express themselves the best you can without the fear of making mistakes. Originality is something we always look out for and it makes a big difference.
Relevance:
Even when trying to be original, it is always important to go straight to the point in every aspect. In a class like this with so many entries, the professor might be discouraged by a lengthy work with irrelevant content and this can affect the grading.
Instructions:
It’s important to follow every instruction given. On the 5th question, the answer was supposed to be in one statement but some students did not stick to that. A student’s ability to follow instructions keeps the explanations relevant and gives marks under compliance.
Top 3 Students
There were a lot of entries this week. As you can imagine, I had to be extra careful selecting the best students with a lot of good entries.
The top 3 for the first week are;
