Graffiti Of My City No. 1
Hello everyone. This is a new chapter of the very familiar and popular contest Graffiti Of My City hosted by @slon21veka. The contest announcement and rules can be found here. Read up and let's begin this new journey under a new community, STEEM/BRUMK.
For this maiden edition of the contest, I would like to continue to feature the murals or paintings found on the wall of the headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) located at San Pedro Extension Street, Davao City. As I have mentioned in previous posts in the former Graffiti Of My City Contest, the PNP is the police force that protects the citizens from criminals and lawless elements. But in addition, the PNP is also one of the groups tapped to fight insurgency and rebellion against the government. One of these rebellious groups is the CPP (Communist Party of the Philippines) and its military arm the NPA (New People's Army). These rebels have been fighting the government for more than 50 years already and many have died on both sides. This does not include the civilians who have been caught in the middle.
The photos below show murals about the evil deeds that the CPP and NPA do.
The photo above also shows a caricature of the Philippine president, Rodrigo Duterte, seemingly supporting the work of the PNP against the bad guys.
Below is the actual mural.
There is a caption below that reads: "DAGHANG KINABUHI ANG NAKALAS TUNGOD SA KRIMINAL NGA BINUHATAN SA GRUPONG CPP-NPA. BALAOD ATONG IPATUMAN PAGPANGHASI ATONG TULDOKAN". This is translated roughly as: Many lives have been destroyed because of the criminal activities of the CPP-NPA. Follow the law and stop the harassment and intimidation."
That's all for this post. I hope you liked it. God luck to all the other participants and may you all have a peaceful and safe weekend.
