Jacob woke up to the ringing of the doorbell. He got up lazily and checked the time. It was only 4.30 am. He was surprised to see who had come to the door so early in the morning.

Jacob's wife and his 4-year-old daughter had gone to her mother's house for 2-3 days, so he was alone.

He watched his favourite movie on TV till 11 pm and could hardly sleep at 11-30 pm.

He looked out of the viewing hole and saw the police standing at the door. Now all his laziness vanished and he immediately opened the door. As soon as he opened the door, two-three policemen held him tightly.

Jacob asked very calmly, "Why have you people come and why are you behaving like this with me?

Do you know who I am?"

One of those senior officers told him very rudely "Yes, we know you very well, you are a murderer, you have committed a murder last night at 12-30.

Now go quickly and sit in the jeep, we will take you to the police station and talk to you."

Hearing this, Jacob trembled inside, and he started protesting loudly that "he has not committed any murder, he has been at home since 8 pm",

But no one listened to him and he was forcibly put in the jeep and taken to the police station. There he was locked in a room behind bars.

After that no one came to meet him for several hours nor did anyone talk to him. Poor Jacob who is an ordinary representative of a pharmaceutical company, and due to his wife not being at home, reached home at around 8 pm last night after drinking alcohol with his friends and went to sleep after eating the food kept in the fridge and watching a movie.

He had nothing to do with the murder. Now the police had confiscated his mobile phone and he was not able to talk to anyone.

Then after about 5 hours he was told to call his lawyer, all the evidence is against you, in the CCTV camera you are seen entering the house of the man who has been murdered.

"But Sir, I was at home since 8.30 last night"

"Do you have any witness who can say that you were at home last night"

"But Sir, who keeps witnesses at home all the time, my wife has also gone to her parents' house."

"You people are forcibly implicating me in this case"

"You will know soon, when we show you your face captured in CCTV"

Then after Jacob's lawyer came, a CCTV video clip was shown in front of him in which Jacob was jumping from the balcony and entering the house of the deceased.

Jacob's remaining patience also broke after seeing his face in the CCTV clip. He was about to cry, his voice choked. But the police does not respect anyone's feelings. They only believes in evidence. And that was against Jacob.

Poor Jacob did not get bail, and the police continued their investigation, after 10 days of investigation the police talked to Jacob once before filing a charge sheet against him.

You should tell us something more to prove your innocence, otherwise all the evidence is against you, you have not been able to show any witness of your being at home.

Disappointed and frustrated Jacob told the police that "his look-alike brother had left home 15 years ago. His search might help."

"Why did you not tell us this before?"

Don't know why the police did not think from the beginning that Jacob could commit a crime like murder.

There were no fingerprints found on the crime scene or the murder weapon, which pointed to the work of a criminal. But Jacob had a clean record and was not involved in any criminal activity.

So the police immediately searched everywhere for his lookalike and after 20 days of searching, finally arrested Jacob's twin brother. He confessed his crime to the police. He also told that he had come to know that his twin brother was involved in his crime, but he did not come forward because he hated his family.

The police released Jacob and prosecuted his twin brother.
