CONTEST: Reading between the lines! Viola' storty

Grandma's eggs, and the secret of prudence.

In a small village surrounded by greenery, there lived a little girl named Viola. One day, her mother asked her to bring some fresh eggs to her grandmother who lived across the park. "Remember, Viola," said her mother in a thoughtful tone, "to distribute the eggs in more baskets and make more trips."

But Viola, with the enthusiasm and impatience that only children can have, thought it would be quicker to take them all on one trip and would gain some time to play on the swings in the park. So, ignoring his mother's advice, he carefully placed all the eggs in a large basket.

While walking happily towards her grandmother's house, Viola did not notice a root protruding on the path. He stumbled, and with a mixture of surprise and despair, saw the basket fly from his hands and the eggs break on the path.

With a heavy heart, ...the little girl with two ponytails and a scarlet dress sits on the swing in the park, the gentle creaking of the chains punctuates her contemplative silence..., as the sun began to sink towards the horizon.

It was at that moment that his father, who had been following the scene from afar, decided to approach. He knelt in front of Viola and, in a sweet tone, began to speak.

“Viola,” he said, “I know you feel sad about eggs, but what would you think if I told you that every egg is like one of your favorite toys?” Viola looked at him confused, wiping tears from her eyes.
"Imagine having just one big box for all your games. If for some reason you lost it, you would have nothing left to play with. But if you spread your games across several boxes, even if you lost one, you would still have the others."

Viola listened, her eyes lighting up as she understood the lesson. "So, was Mom right? I should have listened to her and brought the eggs on multiple trips?"

"Yes, exactly," the father replied with a smile. "It's like when we invest our savings. By putting a little into different 'baskets', we can protect ourselves from any unexpected events. By doing so, even if one 'box' gets lost, the others will be safe."

Viola nodded, now she understood the value of what her mother had tried to teach her. She hugged her father, feeling reassured and ready to learn from her mistakes.

From that day, Viola not only followed her mother's advice when she had to bring eggs to her grandmother, but also began to think about how she could "manage" her precious things, just like eggs, to better protect them. And, in a way, she had learned a valuable lesson, not only about caring for eggs, but also about how to wisely handle what she held dear.

For a moment I thought dad wanted to sell for each broken egg one of her toys.

Viola if I was you I would hurry over to grandma, she doesn't care. 😉

🤣 "Grandparents are always a safe harbor."👍

Indeed. They don't care about telling a lie and confirm the eggs arrived an the ate them plus baked cakes 😉

😋

I believe listening to experienced people in any field is really useful. I think that's one of the things the story captures. We often make mistakes out of naivete, but there's always a gem of advice to get us out of trouble during second and third rounds.

That's what Viola learned while doing her tasks. I'm sure next time she'll execute with much more wisdom.

Absolutely, the story underscores the value of heeding advice from those seasoned in their fields. It's through initial errors and embracing wise counsel that we, like Viola, grow and navigate future challenges with enhanced insight and dexterity. Thank you for your comment.

Wow...
You seamlessly connected your story, my words, and the saying of Don Quixote: "Don't put all your eggs in one basket"! I'm thoroughly impressed.

However, what resonated most with me was the poignant moment when she sat on the swing after her eggs broke—almost as if her little heart had broken too. It sank in sync with the sun, disappearing on the horizon, creating a beautifully relatable and touching scene.

Thank you:)

Thank you @soulfuldreamer for understanding my thoughts on Don Quixote and I'm happy that my story arouses emotions. Congratulations to you, have a good trip

I read the story every bit and stayed glued to it till the end. Beautiful story, written with so much grace and power. I've learnt to cast my efforts into different endeavors and not just one, so if one fails, there would be a little from somewhere else to maybe fall on. Beautiful piece.

All the best my friend.

thank you @triple-a for your message I'm happy that my piece stimulates you to improve some aspects of us. I wish you good luck

Lessons that most times we have to learn from failing or falling, this is the case of Viola. Lovely one @ibesso
