The Keyword of the Week: TIME CHANGEOVER

in Dream Steem3 months ago
As the time of his retirement was approaching, he tried to console himself, "Come on, man, it won't be off on weekends, but it's going to be a leave from office forever. It was time to have fun, and he smiled satisfactorily.

He thought, "Even if I am out of a job now, what is there to be disappointed about? It will be a break from following orders and a wonderful opportunity to study and teach my growing children. An opportunity to meet relatives and close friends, an opportunity to mingle with everyone in society."

His thoughts were making him happy.

Now I will fulfill all my desires to go out on the hills and have fun with my children. This sounds like an opportunity to complete all my desires. Why are people afraid of retirement? It feels like I will have the best time of my life in the coming days.

He was a person who lived by rules and regulations, which he wanted to continue to follow even after his retirement.

He remembered when he used to go to the market with his wife every evening, and he got ready to go out. He wanted to avoid taking the children with him, but one day her youngest daughter came and hugged him and said we children want to go with you every evening.

From that day on, he started taking one child, and sometimes all his children, to the market, and meeting their requests for their favorite things with pleasure.

An interesting turn came in the story when, after his retirement, his habit of going out continued, but now his wife's legs were not letting her go. She no longer was able to go with him as she had pain in her legs. So what? He wanted to take one of his children with him like always.

But now that time has changed, children who were always ready to go to the market with him have now started shying away from going out with him. Maybe it was at a certain age, in adolescence, or in that phase of a dilemma when children start feeling awkward in the company of seniors.

Maybe they don't want to be seen in the company of oldies in the park, restaurant, or anywhere, as it became very difficult to tolerate the pitiful smile of their friends, and they felt embarrassed.

This did not mean he gave them any lectures or talked boringly about finding faults in them. He used to share his experience and knowledge, which they liked earlier. But boys and girls now needed their personal space at this age. Now they all wanted to avoid going with him.

That day, like every evening, he asked, "Is there anyone who wants to go out with me?"

But it was as if everyone was ignoring his call. The little girl who insisted on going out with him every evening in childhood said to her sister, "I feel bored in his company. Will you go with him?"

That girl had spoken it in a low voice, but he could hear her loud and clear.

He sat silently for a while with his eyes fixed on the floor and a sad smile on his face. He slowly got up, took down the coat from the hanger, and called out to his wife, "Listen, I have brought a few walking sticks from Shimla. Give me one of them!"

The girl picked up a stick and gave it to him. He smiled with pain in his mind and said to himself, "Is that all I wanted in my life?"

He held the handle of his stick tight, smiled, and went out for a walk without looking at anyone as if that stick in his hand was a support from all his dear ones. He had accepted the facts of life. Perhaps this was the effect of the time changeover.

I had heard that pensioners never have time! Lots of plans and appointments and commitments... Mmmmhhh. I still have a few years left ;-))

Pensioners in different countries have different conditions. If you see them in certain parts of the globe, you feel sorry for them.
