The Confession

The situation was getting worse! They were about 300 nautical miles away from the shore. The storm was increasing every minute, and their steamship's engines had stopped working. So the two engineers attending the engine room panicked, and both of them made a plan. They both took the only lifeboat and left the steamship, trying to find help on their own without informing anyone!

Oh no, not even the captain of the ship! Maybe he would have stopped them or at least kept a vigil on them. However, after two days of continuous sailing, they regretted their decision to leave the steamship. They wanted to help the team, but they were in trouble themselves.

As the storm was getting intense and their boat was tossing almost uncontrollably. Then suddenly it dawned on one of them, "Oh, I have one of those three doves in the boat.

He immediately took out his diary from his pocket and wrote a message. He knew this artificial budgie that their captain had kept for this special purpose would probably reach the steamship. They were a little more hopeful now. So one of them started writing a message on the paper. Finally, he finished writing it and read it for the last time before sending it through their artificial dove.

This was first part of the story; now I continue :-

He finished writing the note and read it once again.

Family, I am so sorry we took this decision, but when we decided to do this, our intention was to get help for the fellow team members. But our decision has probably made things worse. And with our action, the chances of getting out of the boat in case of an emergency are all gone.

Our decision to go for help will probably make it even more difficult to reach home. I am thinking about my decision over and over again with Martin. I am heartbroken; Martin has been crying for several hours, my friends, and we both are feeling dejected.

We hope my message reaches you to show you how sorry we are.

He finished reading that confession note, tied it to the dove's paw, and sent it in the direction he thought the steamer was going. However, they knew that the dove had inbuilt direction tracking ability that would take it to the steamer, provided it was within the reach of its system.

Meanwhile, back at Steamer, they had almost fixed the issues. The captain had plugged the hole with the help of the team, and the second engineer was looking less worried now. The captain was constantly in the engine room, checking the machines and keeping them going.

Suddenly they heard a sound, a sound similar to a rotating fan. The captain knew it, so he shouted, "This is one of those budgies I kept for this special purpose".

"This is probably a message from one of the two that took the boat."

Yeah, that's why Benjamin, the captain, kept these mini robots in each lifeboat. Well, that's the reason. Yes, it worked. But that robotic pigeon suddenly fell into the water. Oliver jumped into the water and took it out.

"Yes, on its tiny leg, there was some sort of electronic marker," said the "Tracker." So the one who took the boat knew it and took the chance.

They all read that torn letter and know what they meant, but this was already the third day, which meant it was a little over a day when they sent this message. No worries; let's go find our teammates. They all looked at each other and nodded in agreement.

All of them wanted to leave in search of help for their teammates. Okay, the storm was still violent, and the weather was freezing cold, so they waited for a while. But as day broke, they looked to the east and saw.

Fortunately, the engine of the boat was responding fine, so they were ready to take a chance. The winds were not as strong, the storm had almost passed, and the waves were mild. The captain told them, "Let's go find them.

Meanwhile, the two were waiting for the team to come and help. They were hoping to see help coming from their team. They also hoped that their confession would be taken with the right intention.

Suddenly, Martin saw the approaching boat, and he took his shirt off and waved it with all his might.

Sort:

Late repentance and forgiveness.... This is a concept that is widespread and appreciated. I have my problems with it: I expect people to think carefully before their actions (and words). And actions that are the result of thorough reflection do not need apologies or forgiveness from third parties. They were taken consciously and are therefore legitimate. I therefore strongly recommend refraining from thoughtless action and reflecting on oneself regularly....

Actually they had an intention to help their stranded mates but their act misfired. There was just one lifeboat in that steamer so they sort of put their friends in danger so I feel they have a right to confess and expect support from their mates.

Agree totally. But I see no needing for a request for pardon.

I would love to read your version of the story then!

You must wait until Tuesday... I have it in my head, but there is so much to do these days... I promised you my contribution!

🖐 😊 👌

But I agree with @weisser-rabe. When making responsible decisions, you need to think a lot. As a former sailor, I can say that if this had happened in reality... in a word, it's completely unprofessional, unless it's an escape from a ship for the sake of salvation.

I agree, I totally agree with you as I believe even if they did it for the welfare of their mates, they should have taken the consent. That was not only unethical but an act of cheating.

But as you said the rules in real world and fiction are altogether different like I am sure you never used this eye cap used by pirates as a former sailor 😁

I should have made an eye patch for one of my ears... it doesn't hear anyway)))

Of course, to reveal the characters of the characters or pose a problem, you can come up with a different plot, even far from reality)

You have a top class sense of humor 👍

... thank you for your kind words!
🖐 😊

This should not be the "confession" but "the story behind the story"!
Well done!

Yes, that's right a confession that needed a full story to cover up their folly!

I enjoyed reading your story. It was simply amazing. 👍
