Aventuras en el Parque

Hello friends, especially in the Shine with Steem community. It's great that I could participate in this week's theme, hopefully, this will be a good post from me.

Many of us have children, nephews, grandchildren, or neighbors whom we love as if they were our family..

For us teachers, our students are family.

I have 5 young children and we spend a lot of time together every day, besides that, I also have many children who I love as a teacher and I already consider as family. Who else if not my students at school, my students other than my biological children of course. In my participation this time, I will highlight the side of my students at school while doing fun activities, which are part of a family I also love.

It just so happened that today all of our students at the school held an entrepreneurial activity, an activity that was carried out as part of a fun learning outside of school. Where we do this is in the schoolyard, a mini park that is the center of all our students ' play activities. Our children who carry out these character-strengthening activities are students in Grade 4 of elementary school, they are on average 10 years old consisting of sons and daughters.

My students are a family to me

Today 3 classes carry out activities that we refer to as P5, or abbreviation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project. This is a program to strengthen the character and competence of students by the ideology of the Indonesian nation. And this activity also makes children do positive and creative things that are full of benefits. There were at least 60 students and students who participated in the activity, and I enjoyed this togetherness together with them.

The main focus of activities in this schoolyard is creativity and fun character building, and the theme we do is making salted eggs. Salted eggs are a popular food from Indonesia that takes several days to make.

Duck eggs, which will be made into salted eggs

Salted eggs are a type of food made from Duck Eggs that go through a spontaneous fermentation process with salt as a fermentation medium to make them. This processed food is quite easy to make, but it takes a few days to produce salted eggs that have a unique taste. In Indonesia salted eggs become one of the most popular rice complementary foods, and the availability of salted eggs in the market is always there and easy to buy. But it is important to teach children that we love to be able to process duck eggs into salted eggs that have a salty taste but are savory and delicious to eat. The ingredients to make it are quite simple, and not too difficult, it only takes time to be consumed because it must pass the fermentation period of the salt solution.

Our joy in the school yard / mini garden, when making salted eggs together

This outdoor activity also involved some of my fellow teachers at school, to be able to play together and do positive things, namely making salted eggs. In the P5 activity, we enjoyed the process of making salted eggs together in the yard as well as the garden that is available at the school where I teach. To start making this traditional food called salted eggs, the ingredients are as follows :

  1. Three eggs or 4 fresh duck eggs.
  2. 1/4 Kilogram of ash, usually we use ash to wash cooking utensils that are difficult to clean due to the cooking process that makes the bottom of the pot or cauldron black. Scrub ash is made from combustion process waste or ash from plants, and usually comes from rice husks. This rubbing ash can be easily purchased in some markets and stores at very low prices.
  3. Salt to taste, usually requires 3 or 4 eggs needed salt as much as 60 grams to 8 grams of salt.
  4. Water and container making.

Ingredients for making salted eggs

In this activity in the yard or mini garden of the school, we learn together how to make salted eggs as one of the traditional foods. Our students enjoyed the process of making these salted eggs, all excited while joking and laughing. The seriousness is also seen in several stages of creation, so that I as a teacher who is their second parent at school, feel very happy with our activities today.

I am currently helping students in the process of making salted eggs

They start everything by cleaning the eggs first so that the duck eggs are completely clean of germs attached to the eggshell. The cleaning step is to dip the duck egg into the water and then rub it using a cloth or tissue that has been available, some children try to clean the duck egg using their hands and wash it using water.

The next step is to prepare the ashes to cover the duck eggs, but the ashes must be mixed with salt in the dosage I mentioned above. So that the rubbing ash and salt mixture can be used to cover all parts of the duck eggs until they become salted eggs. This is certainly due to the salty taste of salt will move and seep through the natural process that occurs, until later the duck eggs will turn salty when cooked.

This fermentation process will take place for approximately 2 weeks to 4 weeks so that after the children finish covering all parts of the duck eggs, the eggs are covered with a cloth and stored in a closet located in each student's classroom.

This activity is enjoyed by our students, they can't wait to see the results they make. The process of making salted eggs is a way for me and my big family at school to enjoy fun learning outside of school, especially in the yard or mini park in our school.
