Although I have travelled in compliance with the partial lockdown norms from October 2020, my mom and brother decided not to going out from the house due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. After one year, they feel confident to travel as we all received our vaccination.

We decided to travel to Dooars during our holi holiday. Dooars is the foothills region of the himalaya and famous for jungle and natural beauty.

On Friday 26 March, we reached the Sealdah railway station by 7 pm. We had reservation in North Bengal Express. The train departed at scheduled departure time 7:30 pm. We reached Falakata the next day at 9 am. Our destination was Holong tourist lodge. We hired a car which will drop us at Holong tourist lodge.

Holong tourist lodge is situated at the mid of the jungle. It was a hunting bunglow during the british era and now has been converted to a tourism property by the government. It is maintained by West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation.

The uniqueness of the property is it serves as a watch tower amidst the jungle. An watch tower with all the nodern aminities. It has a huge common room with big glass window - which offer view of a grassland, holong river and a salt-pit.

We were able to spot peacocks, jungle fowl, bison, deer, gaur, and elephants during our stay at Holong tourist lodge.

On 29 March, we checked out from the tourist lodge with heavy heart as the vacation ended. Our car was waiting outside. As we had some spare time in hand, we visited few tourist attraction like Murti, Jhalong, Bindu. The car dropped us in the rail station at 7 pm and Padatik Express arrived 7:40 pm on time.

We reached Kolkata next day at 7am.
