It's funtime , the 5th edition of party contest is here is here again, once again organised by sir @waterjoe. I refused to be left out this around as well.

Introduction to fun parties

Organising of parties by people and as well attending of parties has been in existence even before some of us were born, and I believe it'll continue even after we pass on.
Attending parties create memories that lasts forever, no don't that's why the idea of celebrating with friends can never be looked down upon.

I myself is big fan of attending funfilled parties, I love celebrating with people around me at least once in a while out of my tight schedules yet I do manage to create time for it.

In this post, I'm pleased to review to you all about my first experience of watching masquerade display.

About masquerade Display

About the masquerade in question here precisely the African traditional masquerade is that which a person covers his/her face so well with mask and also their body with weird costumes. Masquerades symbolises the ancestor's spirit, they embodies spirits also.

The African masquerades displays periodically, only during events, rituals and special traditional festivals. During display, masquerades dance and sings differently, they also act dramas as well. Masquerade when walking doesn't want to see somebody on the way when he do, he flogs so mercilessly.

Review of masquerade display on the event I attended

So over the weekend, it happened to be a traditional day celebration here in Bonny Island, Rivers State Nigeria Western Africa What3words and as expected, the masquerade dancers were in attendance.

How the event went

The event which started as early as 8 had "masquerade display" as the first activity for the day.
The masquerade accompanied by his drummers danced round the whole town as people follow along enjoying the display.

While displaying on the road all passersby were stopped by him and and after giving him money he allows them to go. It happened that whoever refused to give money received the beating of his/her life, it was that serious.

The masquerade spent good time on the road before finally moving to the venue of the event for unique display. Throughout their meet and greet session on the road I'm convinced they gained a lot of money and as well respect because they are seen as superior beings here and are given great respect at all times.

Conclusion

This is my review of the masquerade display I witnessed over the weekend. Hoping to read reviews of my fellow Steemians who also will be taking part in this contest.
