The "Why" Of Omra-Sky (SnookDidn'tMakeMeDoIt)
It's that time of year again. Yes, the time where #snookmakesmedosomething. Well, she isn't actually making me do this. Nope. She just highly suggested it. See, I'm doing this of my own free will. <cough>
How Did I Get Here?
It was late August of 2017 and I found myself in a typical situation. Stuck in a never-ending rabbit hole of Youtube videos. I couldn't even tell you where the rabbit hole started, but the maze somehow led me to a video bragging about "how my first post made me hundreds of dollars".
Knowing it was nonsense, I watched the video anyway. Followed by a couple of other videos by different people. I came to the conclusion that, even if I wasn't going to make hundreds of dollars, a couple of cents is still better than nothing. Which is what I was getting for basically doing the same thing on sites like twitter and facebook. So I created an account on this strange and exciting new place called Steemit.
Why Am I Still Here?
This question is much tougher for me to answer. I ask myself this all of the time. And there are a myriad of answers. From the start, I've viewed this as a long-term investment. Steem was strong when I joined. Within a few months it was up to about $6.50. It was a great time to be on here. So, even though steem has been down for a while, I've seen it's potential.
There are also the intrinsic rewards that come from blogging. The more I posted the more I noticed an improvement in, both, my writing and my graphic work. I no longer fear writing and I have as much fun(maybe more) making little videos, banners and gifs.
Finally, there are all of the friends I've made here through some of the many awesome communities that can be found. Without their friendship and support Steemit would be a much colder place. The human element is what makes this place so special.
Even though my level of activity here can fluctuate greatly, the Steem blockchain has become too ingrained in my life for me to ever leave it. And, I'm cool with that. 😉

I joined around the same time as yourself and I certainly stay for the community. I had zero blogging/writing experience when I joined but people here were really supportive and I was lucky to find mariannewest and the free writers.
Yes, free writing certainly helped my writing skills a lot. Thank you for your support over the years!
Exactly!! :D
