FPL GW 36 Analysis - Midfielders || the-gorilla
Having completed my analysis of Goalkeepers and Defenders and just 8 hours until the deadline as I start to write this, there's no time to waste so let's start by reviewing the players who played their 5th Gameweek and move into our archive.
Mo Salah completed his 5th Gameweek with a respectable 13 points giving him a total of 30. Given the scores that everybody else has achieved before this, it's decent enough. Pedro Neto's the other player to join the Archive with an embarrassing 1 point having got injured 31 minutes after starting his 1st match for us. Looking at the players archived so far, it's remarkable that Salah didn't get injured too.
As ever, the past performance of my picks is available at the end of this article.
Time to look toward the end of the season though and as usual, I'll pick up to 2 players in each position -
- the primary pick based upon all analysis
- a cheaper pick if the primary's a premium option.
As always, I'll begin with my custom metrics:
Liverpool are on fire at the moment and with 3 great fixtures to end the season with (West Brom (a), Burnley (a), Crystal Palace (h)), I fully expect their players to dominate our picks and no doubt provide us with our captains.
So let's see what Midfield options we've got from Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield Utd (ha ha) and West Ham.
Well, no surprises there. Salah, Jota and Mane. Mane's bettered Jota on a per-90 basis but then Curtis Jones is the best in that regard. So as things stand, Salah's our clear premium option and Jota our clear budget pick. I can't see game time being an issue for Salah with his annual quest for the Golden Boot. Jota could see some rotation but I wouldn't be surprised if we see Salah, Mane, Jota and Firmino play all 3 matches given their opponents.
I'll review the touch maps from the last 3 games before confirming what I think we already know...
Mohamed Salah
v. Man Utd
v. Southampton
v. Newcastle
Diogo Jota
v. Man Utd
v. Southampton
v. Newcastle
Good consistency from both players and you'd be pushed to know which group of matches belongs to which player, confirming my decision that these are our Premium and Budget Midfielders to see us through to the end of the season.
