Anunnaki Ancestors?

A normal year is the amount of time it takes the earth to revolve around the sun one time; that's approximately 365.25 days. This rhythm is quite easy for man to notice, as each month the sun seems to rise against the backdrop of one of the twelve zodiacal constellations.

As the earth orbits the sun, we see it rising against a different starry background, and the movement over relatively short periods of time is quite noticeable. But many ancient calendars assign special value to one specific day in the year and the zodiacal constellation the sun rises against on that specific day; the day of the spring - or fall equinox. Due to a slight "wobble" in the earths rotation around it's own axis, we also see the position of sunrise shift on that (and every other) day; this is called the precession of the equinoxes, precession because the movement is in the opposite direction, or backwards. While in a normal year our sun passes all twelve zodiac signs in 365.25 days, it takes the sun a Great year, or 25,772 normal years, to pass them all.

When you hear people talking about how we're entering the "age of Aquarius", it's the age in the Great Year they're referencing, approximately 2,000 years long. The fish-symbol seen on many cars is the age of Christ and Ram was the age of Abraham. But what has always puzzled my mind, is how on earth did these ancient people notice this precession? The position in which the sun rises on the day of the spring equinox, shifts by one degree every 72 years! And why did all these cultures divide the heavens in twelve parts? To shift over one zodiac sign takes 2,000 years; how did they discover this in times when, according to conventional wisdom, we had no technology whatsoever? We find a possible, and quite intriguing answer in the oldest texts known; Sumerian clay tablets.

These tablets, dating back approximately 6,000 years, of which we have many, tell quit the origin story for mankind. This story has all the ingredients we now see in the three big mono-theistic religions; that God created us in his image, that first Adam was created, that mankind was punished via a great Flood and so on. Also many similarities with ancient Greek and Roman gods are found in these texts. What this has to do with the Great year? Well, according to these ancient Sumerian texts, humankind was given the knowledge about this great cycle by an alien race, the Anunnaki. They had the technology and astrological knowledge to see this slow precession. It is even explained that on their home planet, Nibiru, one orbit around the sun takes 3600 earth years.

In the Sumerian texts and art we find a possible origin, a precursor to our "modern" religions, as well as a wonderful sci-fi story about how humankind was created by these Anunnaki gods; according to the Sumerian creation story we are the result of genetic manipulation of early hominids by Anunnaki scientists, and we were created to work in their goldmines. There is an explanation in there of how our planet got it's name, where Eden was situated, why there's twelve zodiac signs and not eleven or thirteen, why there was a deluge and how Noah became the one to survive and repopulate the planet... I can't read those tablets myself, but I've read many articles and seen many documentaries about this fiercely debated subject. It's a wonderful story that places the Anunnaki's arrival on earth back 450,000 years, and identifies the nephilim from the Bible as the offspring of the "sons of God", the Anunnaki, and the "daughters of men" before the Deluge.
