Probable the young generation don't know much about the sad history and events that shape our world today. That is why as a student of History it is my privileged to share to you some of most cruel and inhuman event in world history. This is my topic in my report in my major: The Struggle of Africa under Colonization and Slavery

Let's us understand first the Geography of Africa

So this is the geographical set-up of the African Continent. We can easily conclude that Africa is quite large and diverse. It is also considered as the second largest continent in the World just next to Asia. The size of the African continent covers almost 12 million square miles and that's more than three times the size of the entire United States so imagine how big it is. There are a lot of people living in Africa with an estimated 1 billion citizens. Nigeria is currently considered as the " Giant of Africa" and the most populated country followed by Ethiopia and Egypt respectively. As a big continent, Africa is divided into 8 physical region which includes : the Sahara, the Sahel, the Ethiopian Highlands and many more.

We all know how rich the African continent is even before the Colonial era. Africa is known for Golds, abundant for minerals and a home for exotic and big animals and mammals with most species can only be found in there.

The Colonization Era

This is the map and legend that i show you above justified how Africa were much colonized by the European. led by the British, French, German, Italian, Portuguese , Spanish and even the Dutch. In short, Africa and the African people were pretty much vulnerable. They became the prey by the Western predators in their own native land. During the age of hte so called ''Exploration" the Westerners went on a voyage around the world with the goals of "civilizing the world" And when the most powerful countries in Europe at the time namely Great Britain, Netherlands and Kingdom of Spain and Portugal convened to make their territorial claims on Africa and established a government
Ethiopia and Liberia were the only Independent

According to my professor, The Ethiopian were warrior , their strong resistance paid off when they defeated the Italian soldiers while the United States protected the Liberia. But the rest was a very sad story. The African native cannot fight with the advance Armour and weaponry of the Westerners against their woods Armour. European powers controlled 90% of Africa which also marks the rise of their power. They claim and governed their new land in the South. They were able to get and enjoy the resources of their new sovereignty and make the most of it which also gives a greater impact on the Economy of Europe that time. So we can conclude how devastating it is for the African, can still be very evident up until these days with the reason primarily that held back post-colonial Africa’s economic development for many decades rights?

The photos above that i show you just illustrates how cruel and and inhuman it was for the African people. :(
Horror, devastating as the African people became slaves of their own land. The slaver affects millions, it was a trade that offered a deep lesson of the horrors of forced labor of the 20th century as one of the darkest moment that happened.
According to the book the formed of Slavery is defined as "the status or condition of a person over whom any or all of the powers attaching to the right of ownership are exercised" and slave as "a person in such condition or status" so the bottom line in their is that because of their poor status in life they became a slave to somebody.

So the types of slavery that took place before that took place were
Debt Bondage
Forced Labor
Chattel Slavery

So these slaves work overtime and paid less. The can also be traded like any other property if the owner wants. They were beaten, tortured or killed ids they do something wrong.

This one were the 10 slaves being chained in the neck so that they will not escaped and if ever they are caught they will be shot.
The slaves have no rights, are expected to perform labor even sexual just to pleased their owner or master.

But the Cruelty doesn't stop in their, the African Slaves specifically majority from Angola and some other part of Northern Africa were brought to South America for their service. It was a reinforcement done to replace the decaying American India Population in Latin American with vast majority of enslaved Africans transported overseas, and who were mostly put to work in the plantations and mines of the European-run colonies changes everything. During the Oversea trip, there were many slaves killed by throwing them in the Atlantic Ocean.

Above is the photo that illustrates the memory of the African Slaves thrown in the Atlantic Ocean during Atlantic trade.

An estimated 12 Million were sent to the South America and work their with their new owner, specifically in some sugarcane plantation in Cuba and other part of the Caribbean island. To be exact 12.5 million Africans were shipped to the New World. 10.7 million survived the dreaded journey to the new world.
The slavery killed million lives
The Slavery in Africa is still considered as one of the darkest, inhuman event that took place in WORLD HISTORY!

Heheh no problem thank you

Thank you for Appreciating this article of mine. I promise to continue to write quality posts. Africa is really damaged after the colonization. The wealth of the continent, the people. It will really take some times for them to recover! Africa is still a very great place to visit one day hopefully
