Manipur Kingdom, in India's northeast, came into existence less than 500 years ago, although some falsely claimed of its 2000 year old lifespan.

The Geological Survey of India (GSI) says that Manipur valley was filled with water such that there's no habitable land just 500 years ago. So the 2000 year old claim is falsifiable, according to historian O. Tomba.

The Hindus, the dominant community, who converted to Hinduism in the 18th century, burned their historical texts after religious conversion. From Sanamahi (native religion) to Hinduism. The burning of texts is something lamentable. Very stupid? Yes – nobody says otherwise, as far as I know.

They are now trying to unearth their past. The translation of their surviving ancient text Puya, collectively known as Masil, is in progress, currently.
