Disclaimer: The following is the beginning of a collection of accounts, so some may have missing pieces or un-verified details. Planning to update this list every so often.

  • Around 1200 B.C. Krakow:
Witnesses account a dragon that lived in a cave under Wawel Hill, Krakow. The story claims that the dragon was killed by a man who poisoned a lamb and fed it to the massive beast. The beast was described to be a large reptile with four massive legs and a fierce face with large teeth. (Hundreds of years later, this story is recounted in the bible with a character named Daniel as the hero).
    (The Wawell Dragon)

  • 800 B.C. Carthage:
An account of dozens of Romans fighting a massive reptilian beast near their stronghold. The creature described to be a greenish-blue reptile, nearly a hundred feet long, with a frightening face and walking on four legs.
    (Carthage dragon)

  • 327 B.C. India:
Alexander the Great was with a group of soldiers in India, where the locals warned him of a beast in a cave. Alexander was curious, but they told him the beast was too frightening to see for oneself. Alexander took his soldiers to the cave, where they claim to have seen the face of a dragon. Alexander said the beast was at least a hundred feet in length and had large teeth and scales.

In the 1400s, Marco Polo reported seeing large serpents during his travels. In the 1700s, Vikings witnessed large serpent-like creatures at sea and citizens in European countries talked about seeing large bat-like creatures flying above cities.

In 1890, two cowboys shot down a giant flying beast that tried to attack them. The story made the newspapers but was heavily considered a hoax.

  • 1953 south of Henan Province:
An unidentified animal fell down from the sky in a place. According to the description by some of the witnesses, the animal looked like a huge shark. The odor of decay attracted countless flies. If it was a shark, it should live in the deep sea. Why did it fall down from the sky?

  • 1887 Bedford, Iowa:
Some kind of flying creature appeared in the sky. Only one of the supposed witnesses – Lee Corder – is mentioned by name. When Corder noticed it, he first took it to be a buzzard, but as it descended, he grew less confident in the identification, and in due course he became certain that it was nothing he had ever seen before. When it finally got close enough that he could study the details, the contours of a great writhing serpent, as much as 1ft (30cm) wide, with glistening scales and a forked tongue filled his vision. When it landed with a thud in a cornfield, nobody was inclined to take a closer look. Apparently, it slithered off via a more conventional mode of locomotion, since the Bedford Times-Independent account mentions nothing about the snake’s ascension.

  • 1940 Mandalari, Africa:
Many reports tell of a massive snake-like creature (given the name Ninki Nanka) with a crest on its head and four legs. Few people say it has wings. Located in the Marshes of Mandalari. The creature looks you in the eyes and mentally tells you that you will die. Legendary fire-breathing monster. Has a strange, horse-like, monstrous face, and bright, reflective scales, green and black in color. One eye-witness claims it was 160 feet long. Males cause instant death and have crown-shaped crests; while females have crests like tiaras, and death takes up to five years. The behavior of the creature is cautious but intimidating.
