Exploring Warsaw - Skra Stadium is Wasting Away
The Skra athletics stadium in Warsaw is an interesting place that gets overlooked by most people.

Its easy to see why: its best days are long gone, crowds cheering on legendary athletes like Irena Szewinska (one of the best ever female runners - 3x Olympic gold medalist) are distant memories.
Łatwo zrozumieć, dlaczego: jej najlepsze dni już dawno minęły, tłumy kibicujące legendarnym sportowcom, takim jak Irena Szewińska (jedna z najlepszych kobiecych biegaczek - 3x olimpijska złota medalistka) to odległe wspomnienia.
Its an eerie, ghostly place inside (CLICK HERE to see a previous post), and its main use now is as a parking lot.

Graffiti covers the walls, although some it is actually quite good.

Despite the state of disrepair, I find the building quite interesting. The external architecture has clearly been influenced by Soviet constructivism - defined lines and angles, with a focus on practical, useful space.
Mimo złego stanu, budynek jest dość interesujący. Na zewnętrzną architekturę wyraźnie wpłynął sowiecki konstruktywizm - określone linie i kąty, zaprojektowany w celu zapewnienia praktycznej, użytecznej przestrzeni.
Sooner or later, the space will be redeveloped, but for now, the Soviet legacy lingers on in this corner of Warsaw...
Wcześniej czy później przestrzeń zostanie przebudowana, ale na razie w tym zakątku Warszawy wciąż jest dziedzictwo sowieckie ...

It is shame this wonderful stadium is left to rust away. The dilapidated Skra stadium could make a horror movie set and yet it nurtured a Rio golden medalist.
