Exploring Warsaw - Abandoned Athletics Stadium

It looks like the apocalypse came early in the dilapidated Skra stadium.

This stadium was built in 1934, but following the war it was used an Nazi artillery base. Heavy bombardment meant only a couple of the embankments survived. Over 80% of the city of Warsaw was destroyed in the war, and a massive rebuilding effort was launched in 1946 by the occupying Soviet authorities. A simple and elegant horseshoe stadium with a capacity of 35,000 was built on the ruins of the old, and the size and central location made it one of Poland's leading athletics arenas.
