in #history8 years ago

Master of Wing Chun, Creator of Jeet Kune Do and Philosopher Bruce Lee a modern legend and his skills were truly legit and Hollywood and the world was changed forever.

Not only was Bruce an amazing combat fighter his Wing Chun skills translated into some pretty amazing dances as well. Dancing and martial arts have a lot in common and it comes down to ones ability to control their body. Without a doubt Bruce Lee was a master of body movements that translated into strength and grace.

“Lee Jun-fan (Chinese: 李振藩; November 27, 1940 – July 20, 1973), known professionally as Bruce Lee, was a Hong Kongand American actor, martial artist, philosopher, filmmaker,[2]and founder of the martial art Jeet Kune Do. Lee was the son of Cantonese opera star Lee Hoi-Chuen. He is widely considered by commentators, critics, media, and other martial artists to be one of the most influential martial artists of all time,[3] and a pop culture icon of the 20th century.”

More than just man who could move and contort his body with such speed and force with a mere inch and a quick twitch he could send a man flying but he was also the man that changed the world; he was able to move an entire culture.

One Inch Punch slow motion.

If you are skeptical please check out Popular Mechanics article proving it is possible. It’s not just about strength and speed, it’s a state of mind.

He also added the what looks like a leg to this training device which again revolutionized training. It was traditionally only for hand grappling training but good ol'Bruce needed to work out more.

One of the world's best philosophical quotes said by the master himself followed with 3 minute compilation of his coolest moves. Please watch it's short and really cool.

Though nun chucks were never used in actual combat other than for training and show Bruce Lee was able to captivate the world with his mad skills.

He was a bridge between western culture and eastern culture in trying times. He brought martial arts into the mainstream in the western world. Before Bruce Lee, the best a non Chinese person could do to learn martial arts was to either go to China or find someone to teach them in private, both tasks very difficult in the days before present.

It is with great controversy regarding a private match Lee fought to win the right to teach non Chinese but it is shrouded in mystery and what really happened may never be discovered. There was a fight, how long it lasted and was it actually for the right to train non Chinese or just measuring ding dongs is not clear. If you want to learn more check out the Wikipedia I linked.

He paid the ultimate price for the dedication to his body and training. He suffered a broken bones throughout his career which altered his life forever.

That's one of my heroes right there. Happy birthday Bruce Lee.

I grew up watching his films my father idolised him, he was amazing to watch

and the sounds he made. wohaa. ooooo. haha. think i'll have to watch of them tonight.

It was his sound effects lol

He made such a stir he needed to go... there are many conspiracies that circle him and even his also deceased son Brandon.

that is very true. he was and still is a very controversial figure. But damn he had a way with words. hard to hate him.

Yes we are researching his written materials and he was way ahead of his time. He moved like no other as he found the keys to the subconscious attributes that make that one in a million elite athlete the way they are.

But more important than that, he was a philosopher par excellance.

very cool stuff. I often hear coaches say things like its all in your mind. Guess science caught up to figure out how. hehe

HA! I just spent all last week talking about him with my university students. =D

Great man! I love what he he contributed for making martial arts known in the western world. Although I have to correct you in one point. His Jeet Kune Do is based on Wing Chun, he was never considered a master. Ip Man refused to teach him these lessons due to the lack of humbleness.

ah so. i can accept that. But he is master in my eyes. lol

Have you seen the one he taught cha cha?

No i didn't. I'll have to look it up.
