PRIVO DITE MORIRO

Here is an ordinary counter of the french mint of Paris. those tokens of nice quality were much more expensive than the poducts of Nuremberg. The king by law had forbidden the import from Nuremberg, but the importations were going on. After the king Louis XIV , very few model of token were made by the Paris mint.

On the Obverse : LUDOVICUS MAGNUS REX the bust signed H.R.F (Jérôme Roussel engraver 1686-1713)
On the Reverse : PRIVO DITE MORIRO an orange tree in his box in the country side.

Ce jeton banal de belle qualité provient des ateliers royaux de Paris, mis à mal par la production de masse des ateliers de Nuremberg, la production de jetons banaux français chutera grandement. Seuls les produits pour les gens fortunés ou les administrations resteront. Le revers de ce jeton se trouve sur de nombreux jetons avec les armoiries d'une famille à l'avers.
