RE: Herman's Story Comes To An End

in #history5 years ago (edited)

I might write about it eventually but I don't want people to get the wrong opinion about the Indians if they don't know much about them. Herman's story was great because I could present both sides. Her story in this book is just a nightmare I think. lol. I haven't read all of it though, I'd have to do that first and then decide but I think it puts them in a very bad light and sometimes they DID act like demonic bloodthirsty animals. Their hatred for their enemies was unreal.

I wanted to do a series about Cynthia Parker but she never told her story to anyone so I can't really do that. All we know is what happened in the attack where she was taken, and then this other girl gave her version of what it was like up until she was ransomed but we know that Cynthia Parker came to love the Comanche people. How that happened we don't know.

I could tell PART of Cynthia's story.

I see! That's to bad that Cynthia didn't talk about here story. I wonder why.

Well, I don't know if you remember that segment I did about her in one of my Herman posts but she didn't talk to anyone, she was angry all the time and was grieving because she thought her kids had been killed I think. She kept trying to escape so they kept her locked in a room and she hated the food and refused to eat a lot of the time, it was like she was in prison and remained defiant like being held by the enemy.

And then she got sick and died at a fairly young age, around 50 I think. It's very sad because her son went on to become a great chief and she never knew that.

Oh she never knew that??? And she died so young??? That I don't remember! But who was the father of her son? Because if you wrote that, I don't remember.

Howdy again Miss Lena! no, I didn't write in detail about her because I was just introducing Quanah Parker her son. When she was captured the chief took her as one of his wives I believe, probably a slave at first and then a wife.

Howdy Janton! Oh I see! No wonder she didn't like it! That must of been worse than being in harem!!! At least in harem the women were living in luxury, but this was far from it!

Yes, but I think she went from slave to wife somehow and then came to love the culture even though they brutally, horrifically murdered her parents in a very demonic way. I thought about telling that part of the story but it's probably too disturbing. People would accuse me of horror porn or something like that.

And you have the details how it happened? But if she loved the culture, how come she got sick and died so young? Based on what you wrote before sounded like she didn't want to eat. I am confused.

Howdy Miss Lena! yes I have the details of what happened when she was captured because it is a very famous massacre that happened here in Texas and there were survivors who were able to escape and the one girl or young lady who was capture with Cynthia described it too.

I'm sorry I confused you about Cynthia Parker. She loved her life as an Indian so when she was forced to come back to the whites she felt like she was with the enemy, even though it was with her relatives. She hated it and she kept trying to run away so they kept her locked in a room so she couldn't escape. So basically she was a prisoner. And she hated the white man's food and wouldn't talk to anyone, or very little.

the only reason she was back with the whites is that her village was attacked by Rangers and they were going around shooting everyone in the head, executing them. When they got to her they noticed she had blue eyes so they didn't shoot her. They took her back to the fort with them, against her will. Then the people at the fort got in touch with her relatives.

For some reason Quanah wasn't there with her at that time or they would have killed him too. let me know if I'm making sense.
