Howdy sir dandays! so good to hear from you...any more progress on finding a decent used 4 wheel drive? You might have to go with a cheap car for a few months? You can't buy one in the States and have it shipped there?
I agree about the house, I would take my time on that one. The B&B is a wonderful temporary spot if it's in the general area that you want to stay in.
When you said ex-pats are weary of going back to the States did you mean Wary? or both? lol.
Oh yeah, what do the locals think about us Americans? do they think we're a bunch of crazy maniacs?
I'd be interested to find out who owns the news organizations down there, probably the same ones that own the majority of ours.
As far as the Westerns...well to me they're just human interest stories with some, hopefully, interesting history thrown in. I mean I've been able, in past posts, to build a strong emotional resonance and bond between the subjects and the audience.
This one has been a little more difficult to do that although I think people related to Butch and his mother and that relationship very well. Harry is more distant from his family and kind of a loner so it's harder to connect with him. Thank you for your support and I understand, as I've said before, if you have to tune out because Mrs. J has zero interest in Westerns. lol. I don't take that personal.
I did get a full downvote on the post I did two days ago but with no comment to explain it and I've never heard of the person before and they have no posts themselves that I saw, just resteems. Very strange. Maybe they didn't like me ruining their image of Butch and Sundance! lol.

What is the spiritual scene like there? Many Catholics? Did you see any churches? In Texas there's a church on every corner!

Many, many Catholics and yes, in typical Catholic fashion, their churches are extravagant. Nothing like Texas all through to Tennessee with churches on each corner, I’ve only seen two. My “location,” I wanted to make sure you saw that one. 😉

Bringing a vehicle here, you’ll still pay the high import fees. Add to that the shipping cost and you’re right back where you started. It’s ok, my buddy Jesus is driving anyway, he’ll show us what we’re driving.

Howdy sir dandays! I bet the view of the lights is good tonight isn't it? and it's probably 70 degrees. Mrs. J and I actually studied Panama for quite some time thinking about going there, watching lots of videos made by expats and so forth, studying the culture. The only thing that stopped us was we didn't know how we'd make an income there.
Who in the world would downvote you?? People are nuts. That's one of the things I hate about this platform, one of my friends is always being attacked and having many of his posts and earnings wiped out by socialists on here. It's pure censorship. I wish it was a free and open forum for the exchange of ideas, ideologies and view points but it's not at all. I think they should get rid of the downvoting ability, I see no reason for it. If someone doesn't like what you have to say then they don't have to read it.
I see qurator all the time, or the icons for it but haven't looked at it, what do they do?

If a downvote could be used properly, it would probably be useful but like everything, it only takes one person to ruin it for everyone. So, I’d have to agree with you, the downvote button would be better if it was voided.
The stars, about 70 degrees, you nailed it! I understand the making money part, this is a retirement community for expats.
Today, tomorrow, whatever it takes, I won’t be able to rest easy until we have our own phone with CR coverage and our own vehicle. Pura Vida is planning our various stays, we’re literally going to tour up and down both coasts, go inland, stay near volcanoes and really take it all in so we know we’re comfortable before spending a first and last to live somewhere. But I can’t think about anything other than a vehicle and communication right now. We’re hoping to accomplish the phone, at least, today. I’ll keep you posted.
Qurator is another initiative here that rewards original content. You receive a daily upvote just like an sbi but you can increase your daily Upvotes by delegating or setting your computer to follow qurator (I follow their trail). But what sets them apart is they’re an actual community full of talented people and they offer special events every day of the week like “toss up Thursday” which is a good blog, I think another one is “photo Friday” but they’re also affiliated with @goldendawne who is a stellar curator! So, she’s always keeping an eye out for quality work. I think they would really be good for you.

Three months ago I did this article explaining qurator in my own words and qurator actually resteemed it! Well, since then, they’ve abandoned the Tier placements and now you can increase your upvote value by delegating (I’m not), and actually, @fitinfun did this article just recently since they changed their tiers.

As far as qurator, I'll probably get around to checking them out but I'm already a member of so many groups it's hard to keep track of everything. If I had to do it over again I would scrap most of them. Yeah I'm old friends of goldendawn and fitnfun.
But I hope you guys can keep us up to date, you're probably posting and I don't even know it, I never have time to look at my feed so I just don't even use it anymore.
I’ve caught a little bit of grief from several people about my lack of posting. All I can say is I plan on doing some posts, I’ve been documenting various steps to this experience with the intention of posting an article, I just have some obstacles that need addressed first.
In the meantime, I’m counting on people like you to keep me entertained in between waiting for Pura Vida to wake up and stressing out over a phone and a vehicle. We still don’t have either of those... God will hand them to us when he’s ready, we just keep giving an honest effort and I try not to forget who’s behind the wheel of this vessel. 👍🏿

As much as we tried to prepare for this move, with American ideals and thought processing, I never assumed I’d be so challenged. Finally got a phone card yesterday and a chip, now I need to call my carrier again and have them unlock my phone. I’ve only been trying to get them to do that for 3 days. Pita!
There isn’t a DMV or anything like that here, you pay what’s called a “road tax” once a year and it’s written off by an attorney. Well, going back and forth with everyone and translating language, it’s proven to be quite the task.
But just yesterday I found a company who’s been here for 10 years, from Canada, a family business that only assists expats in the purchase of a vehicle, thank God! I have an appointment with them tomorrow, for an affordable fee, they’ll take us shopping, handle the transaction, etc. so that we have our own wheels.
I tried opening a bank account yesterday and I don’t have a physical address so I was denied but then I found a UPS hub in San Jose, CR, being that’s my mailbox in Las Vegas, Nevada, I ‘should’ be able to go over there and get a forwarding address for my personal mail. That’ll mean I have a bank account. From there, I can wire and transfer money to myself.
It’s all a learning curve but even the couple we’re renting a place from right now is amazed by the progress we’ve made in just 4 days, “Costa Rica” time is a clock that you can’t fast forward.

I enjoy these winded conversations back and forth, as I catch up on what you and everyone else is doing, the sun is rising, Pura Vida is sleeping and I’m all by myself. The only time it’s like this—my time.

:Update: Injust got off the phone with Sprint and my device is finally unlocked! Mother F’ers took their sweet you knownehat time with that one. Making progress Janton, we officially have a phone and a Costa Rica phone number.

Well, once you get the bank account and a vehicle you'll have it made and the pressure will be off and you can just relax, cruise around and take your time. That Canadian company can put you into contacts for everything you need, I'm sure.
Then you can post about what's going on. I promise I won't ever skim through anything and I'm very honored that you are keeping me up to date.
Do they also use dollars for currency there or just their's?
I take it most people don't own vehicles in CR?
