Dear my steemian friends, There are several historic buildings in Medan that until now still exist and intact. We will take 10 buildings from several existing in Medan, namely; Lonsum Building, Post Office, Grand Mosque, Tjong A Fie Mansion, Maimun Palace, Bank Indonesia, East Mountain Temple, Tirtanadi Tower, Shri Mariamman Temple, and Cathedral Church (Santa Maria). If you was born in medan, surely know about the building. So Let's review historic of the building one by one.

London Sumatra Building in Medan City, North Sumatra is one of the relics of the colonial era that still stands today. When it was founded, it was the office of a Harrisons & Crossfield Plc plantation company, a London-based plantation and trading company. By Harrisons & Crossfield this building is called the Juliana Building. The building was built in 1906 with a transitional-style architecture. The style is seen from the shape of the gevel or front facade that characterizes the houses facing the river in Europe in the transition of the late 19th century.
After Indonesia's independence ownership Harrisons & Crossfield Plc eventually nationalized and changed to PT. PP London Sumatra Indonesia (Lonsum). The change of ownership has no effect on the physical changes or functions of the London Building Medan. Until now, the London Building Medan is still used as the center of Lonsum. Therefore the Sumatra Heritage Agency (BWS) classifies the Medan London Building as a cultural heritage object.

The Masjid Raya al-Mashun itself was built in 1906 on 18,000 square meters of land, can accommodates approximately 1500 worshipers and was first used on Friday 25 Sya'ban 1329 H (10 September 1909).

Tjong A Fie was born in the province of Guangdong, Maizen district, in the village of Sukaou, China, the last in 1860. He came to Medan from Meixian, Guangdong, in 1875. Tjong A Fie is an ancient Chinese-style building built in 1900, located at the street location Ahmad Yani (Kesawan). He was the first millionaire in Sumatra, whose name is well known to date, although he died in 1921. In the past, Maimun Palace was not only the seat of the Sultanate of Deli, but also the center of Malaysian customs and culture, the place of consultation between the communities and the center of Islamic da'wah.

Bank Indonesia Medan lost a trace of the Dutch government during the war. Vihara Gunung Timur is the largest and oldest Taoist (Taoist) temple in the city of Medan, Indonesia and possibly also on the island of Sumatra. This temple was built in the 1930s. This temple is located on Jalan Hang Tuah, about 500 meters from the Sri Mariamman temple and on the side of the Babura river in Medan. Buddhists generally worship this monastery every day. - Tirtanadi Tower
The water tower of Tirtanadi is one of the iconic city of Medan, North Sumatra. This water tower used to be owned by the Dutch colonial government, called NV. Water Management Company Ajer Beresih was founded in 1905. The water tower was completed in 1908 and is now owned by PDAM Tirtanadi. His function is to meet the clean water needs of the residents who are still used up to now. In addition, this water tower also functioned as a monument of the city of Medan.
Another characteristic of the city of Medan is the water tower building that is now owned by the regional water company Tirtanadi. When you enter this city from the south via Sisingamangaraja, you are greeted by the view of the top of the Tirtanadi tower as a storage tank for the needs of the townspeople since the Dutch colonial era so far.
9.Shri Mariamman Temple
Shri Mariamman temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Medan City, Indonesia. The temple was built in 1884 (some call it 1881) to worship the goddess Kali. The temple is located in an area known as Kampung Keling. The temple that drives the five gods, each of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesha, Durga (Kali) goddess, and the Safe Goddess is run by one of the families of the owner of a large Texmaco company, Lila Marimutu. The gate is decorated with a gopuram, a multi-storey tower that can usually be found at the gates of Hindu temples from South India or a kind of gate.
10.Cathedral Church (Santa Maria)
Upon its founding in 1879, the cathedral church of Medan is a palm-leaf huts and covered place of worship to dozens of Catholics (the majority ethnic-Tamil India and the Netherlands) at Jl Pemuda No. 1. 1 (formerly known as Jalan Istana). In view of the development of the number of people who had reached 193 people in 1884, since that year, it has been thought about how to repair and enlarge the cabin of the hut, rumbia and ijuk.
