Psychology or Philosophy? I want to study the nature of man!

Both psychology and philosophy have a common place in history but they are two different fields of study. Both deal with people and life but focus on different significant aspects. But guess what! psychology arises out of philosophy. Most of the topics of study (like intelligence and perception) in the field of psychology are brought about by philosophy.

I would say psychology tries by all means to understand human behavior while philosophy on its own part tries to comprehend human life and its existence. Philosophy poses rhetorical questions, always telling us what is right and wrong while psychology come up with logical conclusions through hypothesis testing.

So just by this it is clear that philosophy encompasses a good number of topics and its discipline is divided into the study of ethics, metaphysics, logic, epistemology, and ontology all of which try to give meaning to live and our existence.

I would also say psychology actually deal with the study of how the human behave and how its mind functions. It ask why people should behave the way they do (why should we even feel, think or act the way we do). It topics are related to social life and human development.

These two have an irreconcilable difference in that they keep on doing the dance but none ever try to move in. Even so, they do have some theories and result in common.
