From History: Today's Famous Birthdays

This is an effort to provide some information on Five selected famous personalities born on this day.

1. Robert F. Kennedy
Robert F. Kennedy was the younger brother of former US President John F. Kennedy and served as US senator, Attorney General under his brother's Presidency.
He was also a lawyer from Massachusetts.
He is seen as an icon of modern American liberalism.
After his brother John F Kennedy's assassination, he continued serving under the next President Lyndon B. Johnson.
He was the Presidential candidate for Democratic party in 1968, but was assassinated by a Palestinian boy soon after the presidential primary results were announced for California and South Dakota.
2. Joe Biden
Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. shortly known as Joe Biden is a retired US politician who was 47th US Vice President from 2009 to 2017.
He was US senator from Delaware for the period 1973 to 2009 and was the 4th senior most US senator at the time of his retirement in 2009 before becoming the Vice President.
He also served as chairman of Senate Judiciary Committee.
Since he was a good negotiator with Republicans, he helped to get legislation changes related to Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Re-authorization and Job Creation Act of 2010.
In January 2017, President Obama awarded the "Presidential Award of Freedom" to Joe Biden.
3. Edwin Hubble
Edwin Hubble was an American astronomer who is the inventor of Hubble Space Telescope.
He played a major role in establishing the extra-galactic astronomy (branch of astronomy concerned with objects outside the Milky Way galaxy) and observational cosmology (study of the origin, evolution, and eventual fate of the universe).
He provided evidence that the recessional velocity of a galaxy increases with its distance from the earth, a property known as "Hubble's law".
4. Tipu Sultan
Tipu Sultan known as Tiger of Mysore was a ruler of Kingdom of Mysore who is considered as the pioneer in using rocket artillery.
He deployed rockets against British forces during Anglo-Mysore Wars.
Tipu was famous for his reforms during his rule related to coinage, lunisolar calendar and a new land revenue system which helped the Mysore silk industry to grow.
He was one of the few South Indians who provided tough resistance to British imperialism and is seen as a national hero.
5. Bo Derek
Bo Derek is an American actress, producer and model who is known for her movie 10 released in 1979.
A swimsuit poster in the same movie, made her the sex symbol of 1980's.
She acted in the movie "Tarzan, the ape man" directed by her husband John Derek and other movies like Bolero and Ghosts Can't Do It.
She is a horse lover and a spokesperson for Animal Welfare Institute's campaign to end horse slaughter.

Robert F. Kenbedy was instrumental as an advocate and chief counsel of Senate Labor Rackets Committee, he fought against corruption and as mentioned in the post, his advocacy for Civil Rights Movement is best known for fight against organized crime and mafia.
Joe Biden is not just one of the seniormost US senators, but also well known for his work as chairman of Foreign Relations Committee, where he was instrumental in creation of Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement act and Violence against Women Act and as mentioned in the post, he is well known for negotiations with Republicans, because of which many reform acts hot passed without much opposition.
Edwin Hubble, we all know has contributed to the world as an astronomer not just with his space telescope, but also instrumental in inventing objects beyond milky way.
Tipu Sultan, as mentioned, is considered as national hero in India, since he was one among countable few who could resist the heavy troops of British and their rule in India. He was also known for his technological and millitary inventions during 18th century itself especially in India.
Bo Derek, I couldn't get much info except that she has entertained us in her movie "Tarzan, The ape man". Atleast some people like her for her beauty and the entertainment she has provided.

Yes, Kennedy and Hubble are pretty clean and honest. Tipu being a king, might have to kill people and finally he was also killed because of some internal people. Not sure about Biden, but wiki doesn't have any information about him being corrupt or something like that. Bo Derek, yes she is limited to entertainment.
