The history of the border conflict in Kashmir

in #history7 years ago (edited)

In the case of bombings between Indian and Pakistani soldiers in the border region of Kashmir, so many people have already been killed. There were also shells where people had to leave their homes. Kashmir is a disputed area claimed by India, Pakistan and, in part, China as well.

The Kashmir region

Kashmir is enclosed between the Chinese autonomous regions of Xinjiang and Tibet, the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The area is divided by a demarcation line, which has been respected by both countries since 1972. To the north of this border line, Kashmir is governed by the Pakistani government. The southern part is governed by India as part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. However, both countries do not recognize this demarcation line as international borders. Since the breakdown of India and Pakistan by the British, Kashmir has already been contested.

Division

Until 1947, Kashmir was an autonomous region of the British colony and a princess state, ruled by a Hindu maharadja. However, most of the inhabitants were Muslim. After the British had decided to form two countries from the former colony of India, autonomous regions were given the opportunity to decide whether they would join the Hindu or Islamic part. The maharadja, who was out of a semi-dependent state, waited very long for a final decision. In that same year, Pakistan therefore entered the prince state to demand the territory.

Conflict

To get support from India, Maharadja decided to conclude a contract with the Hindu state soon. India, that of Kashmir did not want to make a semi-dependent state, the maharadja came to help expel the Pakistani occupants. Because the country consisted of Muslims for the majority, Pakistan considered non-legitimate agreement between the maharadja and India.

In the Land, fighting fought for this period until January 1, 1949. With the intervention of the United Nations, a peace treaty was signed. A referendum proposed by the UN, in which the population should be asked to whichever country they wanted to join, was however fought by India.

Chinese interference

For more than ten years, it remained fairly quiet in the area, but in the 1960s, re-emergence emerged after China had mixed in the conflict. According to China, part of the region belonged to it because it was also seen by the Tibetans as part of their area. As early as 1957, the country had a motorway for a part of the Indian part of Kashmir, of which India was informed only two years later. After China had taken part of the region, Pakistan concluded a treaty with the country in which the Shaksgam border area was transferred to China in exchange for military support.

An amount of conflicts

In 1965, fighting between India and Pakistan broke along the demarcation line and in 1971, fought in Kashmir. After this final collision, both countries agreed that they would resolve the conflict peacefully. However, these mediation attempts led to nothing and in 1999 the weather was missed after Pakistani fighters had passed the demarcation line.

Although the warriors eventually pulled under pressure from US President Bill Clinton, tension remained in the area. Several times, the Indian and Pakistani authorities tried to confront the conflict, but clashes continued to occur. In 2002, even feared a nuclear war. The current fighting in Kashmir is a never-ending amount of conflict.
