A Brief Look At The Huna Method

Lately I have been having a lot of discussion about consciousness and I looked back at book I read a while back and figured I would share that on here.

There was a group that studied ancient Hawaiian religion from a scientific aspect. They discovered that ancient Polynesians had "spiritual" enlightenment by practices they had performed to have abilities of bodily healing .

Kahuna, is an ancient priest and a term used till this day. Pronounced "kah-hoo'-nah," means "keeper of secret."

The word for their secret lore was never found. The code of secrecy had been so strong and so well kept that it may never have been given a name. Or, if it had, it may have been too sacred to mention, like the name of God in some cults.

The name researchers used was Huna("hoo'-nah" ), which means "secret." So this study and practice came become known as the "Huna Method."

When a research through the Hawaiian dictionary, interesting terms began to stand out such as "parts of mind" that we call it in modern psychology. Ancient Hawaiians named and described the subconscious and conscious. It was discovered they even had named the super-conscious and had recognized it as a spiritual part of man.

This discloses the fact the kahunas knew about the three "parts of the mind" as three separate entities or selves

This book described the 3 entities in the scale of growth or evolution:

• Low Self - The subconscious. This is the immature adolescent part of the mind. The "child" that feeds into emotions and focuses on "wants" vs "needs." It is a servant to the other selves and attached as the younger brother and needs guidance from the older brother, the middle self.

• Middle Self - The conscious. This is the older, wiser, more mature self. This holds our egos but guides the lower self to work with each other. General level of understanding and knowledge. This is where most of us reach.

• High Self - The super-conscious. This is the level of spiritual enlightenment. When the low and middle self can work in sync and unison to reach a level of understanding and knowledge. Reaching this level has supposed "magical" powers such as bodily healing.

Reaching the high self is always difficult to reach for many because the low and middle self are at a constant battle. The adolescent that fights for it's wants while the mature one has to constantly keep guiding and focus on needs. Once the 2 lower selves can find a balance, the middle self will connect the low to the high self and form the 3 entities or create a "trinity."

It's amazing that civilizations had this level of understanding and with one so isolated from the rest of the world, could we reach this level of consciousness in this day and age?
