I saw on TV today that the Dutch slave trade only was 5% or 10% of the global slave trade, most of it was done by the British. There was a program on where they walked through our city Middelburg with the "van Rossems."

Yes according to the books thats true. And even for U.K. it was just a fraction of their incomes.

It was more things like the trade monopolies they exploited.

exacto they made much more money with the V.O.C.

However, the profits dropped since the first profit. The Dutch monopoly positions had to be defended. And that was expenisve that eventually we lost it also to Spain-Portugal

Buying voc shares back then was about as much profitbale as investing in the State Debt.

Spain and Portugal were looting gold in South America by the ton, so that probably enabled them to buy bigger armies and fleets to defeat us.
